A method of determining the position of a vehicle includes generating a vehicle-based point cloud of objects in proximity to the vehicle, referenced to a vehicle-based coordinate system. The method also includes receiving an infrastructure-based point cloud, referenced to a global coordinate system, of objects detected by a camera mounted at a fixed location external to the vehicle, and registering the vehicle-based point cloud with the infrastructure-based point cloud to determine the vehicle position in the global coordinate system.

Systems and method are provided for notifying an operator of a vehicle of reverse operation of a vehicle. In one embodiment, a method includes: receiving, by a processor, at least one of sensor data and vehicle message data, wherein the sensor data is generated by a sensor of an infrastructure system, and wherein the vehicle message data is generated by a remote vehicle; determining, by the processor, a reverse operation of the remote vehicle based on the at least one of the sensor data and the vehicle message data; and generating, by the processor, notification data based on the reverse operation of the remote vehicle.

A method in a vehicle includes receiving a vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) message transmitted from a communication system affixed to infrastructure at a location. The V2I message includes at least one category of information among a plurality of categories of information and the plurality of categories of information include map-based information and road safety information. The method also includes determining, based on performing at least one type of verification, whether a misbehavior has occurred with respect to the V2I message. The misbehavior indicates incorrect information in the V2I message. A counter is maintained of a number of times the misbehavior has occurred with respect to the V2I message at the location, and the misbehavior is reported based on the counter.

The the one or more controllers execute instructions to associate the specific remote vehicle with a specific lane of travel of a roadway based on map data. The one or more controllers determines possible maneuvers, possible egress lanes, and a speed limit for the specific remote vehicle for the specific lane of travel based on the map data, and determines the context and the intent of the specific remote vehicle based on the plurality of vehicle parameters, the possible maneuvers, the possible egress lanes for the specific remote vehicle, and the speed limit related to the specific remote vehicle.

The supplier processor: reads the ID public key from the VCM subsequent to incorporating the chip in the VCM; identifies the credential package based on the ID public key; and based on the identifying of the credential package, programs the VCM with the signing certificates prior to installation of the vehicle control module in a vehicle.

Technical solutions are described for generating a pedestrian detection warning in a vehicle. An example method includes constructing, by a vehicle controller, a pedestrian zone based on pedestrian information that is received from a traffic controller. The method further includes computing, by the vehicle controller, a vehicle trajectory that predicts a path for the vehicle. The method further includes determining, by the vehicle controller, a minimal distance between the pedestrian zone and the vehicle trajectory. The method further includes predicting, by the vehicle controller, a time to collision by computing a time for the vehicle to reach a location corresponding to the minimal distance along the vehicle trajectory. The method further includes in response to the time to collision being below a threshold, generating, by the vehicle controller, a warning for an operator of the vehicle.

Method and apparatus for evaluating pedestrian collision risks and determining driver warning levels

A method includes approaching, with a vehicle, first stretch of road having a reference target. Next, data is obtained regarding the first stretch of road from both an onboard vehicle sensor and an infrastructure signal provided about the reference target. The information from the vehicle sensor is compared to the information from the infrastructure signal. Finally, the vehicle sensor is calibrated based on the infrastructure signal.

A method includes identifying a reference target with both a vehicle sensor and an infrastructure position signal. A position of a host vehicle with respect to the reference target is then determined. A localized position error between the host vehicle position and the determined position with respect to the object is then calculated with a vehicle controller. Finally, a vehicle positioning system is compensated to account for the localized position error.

Vehicle positioning system using V2X, sensor, and GNSS information

A vehicle-to-vehicle communication filtering system is provided to selectively process broadcast messages between a host vehicle and a remote vehicle. A processing unit evaluates a time-to-collision status between the host vehicle and the remote vehicle sending the message. The time-to-collision status is a function of a relative distance and a relative velocity between the host vehicle and the remote vehicle which are determined from data provided within a first portion of the message received from the remote vehicle. An attentive factor is assigned to each of the remote vehicles based on the time-to-collision with respect to each remote vehicle. The attentive factor identifies a proportion of messages broadcast from the remote vehicle to be targeted for security processing. Security processing of the message is performed based on a second portion of the message unless the attentive factor indicates the message should be ignored.

Input to the calculating includes an actual or estimated transmitted power level, and the received power level.
