Roll back strategies for database deadlock resolution are customized by identifying a first transaction to a database, identifying a second transaction to the database and detecting a deadlock between the first and second transactions with respect to the database. The deadlock is resolved based upon a predetermined roll back strategy associated with at least one of the first or second transactions to identify a select one of the first and second transactions for roll back and a request is conveyed to roll back the selected one of the first and second transactions, wherein the preferred transaction is allowed to continue processing.

Customized roll back strategy for databases in mixed workload environments

An email update system dynamically updates the content of an email when the originator of an email has sent the email, and the originator later determines that the email requires editing. The updating may take place transparent to the recipient and without the introduction of duplicative content into the recipient's email program. The email update system comprises a delta engine program and a delta temporary storage in a sender's computer, a queue manager program and an intermediate email queue in a server computer, and a recipient email retrieval program in a recipient's computer.

Dynamic email content update process

Provided are techniques for demonstrating the efficiency and effectiveness of a customer's information technology (IT) system and applications operating in a shared IT, or electronic business on-demand, environment. A test suite mimics hypothetical settings in an on-demand services environment () and then determines how the settings affect the allocation of resources in the on-demand services environment (). A data restructuring method and system. The method includes receiving by a computing system from a first user content data arranged in a first specified order and a command for tagging portions of the content data according to various parameters. The computing system assigns identification tags to the portions of the content data. The computing system presents the identification tags to the first user. The computing system receives from the first user, a selection of at least one of the identification tags. The computing system restructures the content data into a second specified order in response to the selection. The computing system receives a request for viewing the content data from a second user. The computing system presents to the second user, the content data in the second specified order.

Dynamic data restructuring

Policies defining the entitlements to be assigned to a new identity joining a role are automatically generated. An automatic policy assigns a new identity the entitlements commonly owned by a predetermined number of identities in the role, which may be all of the role identities. A conditional policy recommends that a new identity be assigned the non-commonly-owned entitlements associated with the role identity whose non-entitlement attributes most closely match the non-entitlement attributes of the new identity. This may be automatically determined by iterating through a vector that maps the non-commonly-owned entitlements with the non-entitlement attributes of each role identity, comparing the non-entitlement attributes of the new identity to find the closest match. The non-commonly-owned entitlements of that identity are then recommended to be assigned to the new identity, upon approval.

An improved solution for allowing role based selective access to a document between a plurality of domains is provided. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for allowing selective access to a document between a plurality of domains includes: obtaining a composed section of the document at a first domain; applying a security policy at the first domain to the composed section of the document; distributing the security policy from the first domain to a second domain, wherein the second domain is different than the first domain; and applying the security policy to the document at the second domain.

A document merging method and system. The method includes receiving by a computing system from a first user, a plurality of documents and a command for tagging portions of each document according to various parameters. The computing system assigns identification tags to the portions of each document. The computing system receives from a second user, a command for generating a merged document. The computing system receives a selection of a first identification tag associated with a first document and a selection of a second identification tag associated with a second document. The computing system generates a merged document comprising a first portion of the first document and said second portion of the second document. The computing system stores the merged document.

Dynamic document merging method and system

The present invention comprises a Schema Generation Program (SGP) and Schema Update Program (SUP). The SGP creates an initial XML Schema and copies the database into a hashtable. At the occurrence of a query interval, the SGP compares the database to the hashtable. If the database is identical to the hashtable, then the SGP resets the query interval and repeats the comparison. If the database and the hashtable are not identical, then the SGP deletes the old hashtable, stores a copy of the database as a new hashtable, and creates a new XML Schema. The XML Schema is stored in the web server so that a registered party may access the XML Schema and check the validity of a group of data before sending the data to the web server as a proposed addition to the database. The SUP notifies registered parties of updates to the XML Schema.

Dynamic generation of XML Schema for backend driven data validation

A weighted search program is disclosed. The weighted search program may be integrated into a translation program, or the weighted search program may be used independently with an available search engine. When integrated with the translation program, setting and weighting may be combined in a single search. In one embodiment, the weighting would be used in conjunction with a Pin Yin translation program so that a user could set some terms, and allocate a search weight to the remaining terms. The invention may be applied independently in Internet searching so that a user can apply weights to multiple elements of a search term.

Language converter with enhanced search capability

A method for the rapid, dynamic conversion of Pin Yin words is disclosed. The present invention comprises a web-based computer program. The user identifies an input which may be a hybrid or unaccented Pin Yin word. The character is translated dynamically into an accented Pin Yin word, a Simplified Chinese character or a Traditional Chinese character. The translated character is then displayed. The translation is done in the web page without a round trip to the server.
