A method performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a logging measurement message having a logging measurement configuration from a base station. The method also initiates a minimization of drive test (MDT) session in response to receiving the logging measurement message. The method further determines a status of a UE component and selects a set of logged measurement types from a number of logged measurement types based on a measurement priority of each logged measurement type when the status satisfies status criteria. The method additionally generates an MDT log at each logging instance of a number of logging instances based on measurements collected for the set of logged measurement types when the status satisfies the status criteria. The method also transmits, to the base station, the MDT log of each logging instance after completing the MDT session.

Enhanced minimization of drive test (MDT) framework

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for memory systems that support automatic backup of data upon detection of a potential damage condition. In a first aspect, a method includes detecting, by at least one processor of an apparatus, a potential damage condition for the apparatus and, in response to detection of the potential damage condition for the apparatus, performing, by the at least one processor of the apparatus, a data backup of data stored in at least one memory of the apparatus. A UE may transmit to a base station, and the base station may receive from the UE, via an RRC message, an IDC interference indication. The IDC interference indication may be associated with at least one victim reception or at least one aggressor transmission. The IDC interference indication may include at least one of a first frequency range associated with the at least one victim reception, information associated with the at least one aggressor transmission, a first requested BWP associated with the at least one victim reception, or a second requested BWP associated with the at least one aggressor transmission. The base station may identify at least one interference mitigation measure based on the IDC interference indication. The UE and the base station may communicate based on the at least one interference mitigation measure.

Next level enhancements for 5G NR to improve UE performance

Techniques to maximize connectivity to a preferred radio access technology (RAT) (e.g., 5G NR) over a less preferred RAT (e.g., 4G LTE) are disclosed. When a user equipment (UE) is camped on a preferred RAT connectivity capable cell (e.g., NR cell, EUTRA dual-connectivity (ENDC) cell), offsets or biases may be applied to delay triggering of a cell reselection. When UE is camped on a non-preferred RAT connectivity capable cell, offset(s) may be applied to accelerate triggering of the cell reselection. When cell reselection is triggered, offsets or biases may be applied to favor reselection to preferred RAT connectivity capable cell over a non-preferred RAT connectivity capable cell.

Key performance indicator improvements in wireless communication

A user equipment (UE) is configured to be connected to a 5G New Radio (NR) network that shares one or more frequency bands using dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) with a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network that is transmitting LTE positioning reference signal (PRS). The UE may receive LTE PRS rate matching information from the NR network, such as the LTE PRS configuration data or an LTE PRS rate matching pattern. The UE may decode and process NR data signals and control signals transmitted by the NR network while LTE PRS is transmitted by rate matching around the LTE PRS in accordance with the LTE PRS rate matching information. The LTE PRS muting pattern may be adjusted based on NR data or control signals, and the UE may receive and process NR data and control signals transmitted while the LTE PRS is muted.

Method and apparatus for positioning with LTE-NR dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS)

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a wireless device, such as an in-vehicle device, may determine a selection value for a cell that indicates a priority for selection of the cell by the wireless device and calculates, from the selection value, an adjusted selection value for the cell using an offset that increases a priority of selection for cells that support in-vehicle emergency calls. The wireless device selectively selects the cell based at least in part on the adjusted selection value. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Cell selection for in-vehicle emergency call services

Methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable mediums for wireless communication are disclosed by the present disclosure. In an example, a user equipment (UE) may be located on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The UE may monitor at least one of an elevation of the UE or a number of cells detected by the UE. The UE may determine that the elevation of the UE exceeds an elevation threshold or the number of cells detected by the UE exceeds a cell threshold. The UE may determine a current communication mode of the UE. The UE may switch to a directional transmit mode, in response to determining that the current communication mode is an omnidirectional transmit mode and at least one of the elevation of the UE exceeds the elevation threshold or the number of cells detected by the UE exceeds the cell threshold.

Handover criteria for wireless networks are provided. A base station (BS) transmits, to a user equipment (UE), a configuration for at least one measurement event to be used for a handover of the UE from a source cell to one of a set of neighbor cells, wherein the configuration includes at least a configured rank criterion for triggering a measurement report in response to the measurement event. The BS receives, from the UE, the measurement report based on the configuration, the measurement report at least including a measured rank value for one or more reported cells in the set. The BS selects a target cell from the reported cells for the handover based at least on the received measured rank values, and transmits a handover command to the UE for the handover to the selected target.

Handover criteria for wireless networks

Techniques are provided to initiate signal transmissions for possible opportunistic reception by a mobile device, and/or to initiate opportunistic reception of signal transmissions for use in mobile device position location estimation. For example, a mobile device may use assistance data to identify a first signal to be transmitted over a first frequency band and a second signal to be transmitted over a second frequency band during a specific period of time. At least a portion of the second frequency band may be outside of the first frequency band. The mobile device subsequently attempts to opportunistically receive at least the first signal and the second signal via a receiver tuned to a reception frequency band that encompasses at least the first frequency band and the second frequency band. The mobile device may then process the opportunistically received signals to obtain measurements corresponding to at least the first and second signals.

Opportunistic signal reception for mobile device position location estimation

Techniques for improving enhanced cell identification (E-CID) positioning are provided. An example of a method for determining a location of a mobile device according to the disclosure includes generating a plurality of receive beams with a mobile device, receiving, with one or more of the plurality of receive beams, a radio beam transmitted from a base station, such that the radio beam includes a beam identification value, and determining a measurement quantity for the radio beam for each of the one or more of the plurality of receive beams.

Enhanced cell identification location determination

A MSIM capable UE may operate in a connected mode on a first subscription with a first network and operates on a second subscription in an idle mode or an active mode. The UE may miss communication on the first subscription by tuning away for activity on the second subscription. As presented herein, the may UE transmit, to the first network, MSIM assistance information regarding the second subscription. The MSIM assistance information may enable the network to determine periodic gaps needed by the UE to monitor a second subscription in an idle mode. The MSIM assistance information may enable the network to identify a network for the second subscription and to obtain scheduling information directly from that network.

Multi-SIM assistance information

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus relating to intelligent resource assignment to increase throughput in LTE multiple input multiple output (MIMO) and carrier aggregation (CA) capable devices. In certain aspects, a MIMO and CA capable wireless communication device communicates with a base station (BS) on multiple component carriers (CCs) through multiple radio frequency (RF) chains. In such aspects, the device tentatively switches one or more first RF chains, not assigned to a first CC of the multiple CCs, to the first CC for evaluating a rank of the first CC. The device then determines that the first CC has a higher rank indication (RI) with the one or more RF chains. The device subsequently evaluates one or more performance factors, in conjunction with the higher rank, based on which the device then additionally assigns one or more second RF chains to the first CC.
