Techniques are provided for server-to-server interaction for content item selection. A system receives a request for one or more content items from a client device. In response to receiving the request, the system generates multiple content requests. Each content request is sent to a different content provider of multiple content providers. At least one of the content requests is transmitted over a network to a content provider that is remote relative to the system. The system receives multiple responses, each of which is from a different content provider of the multiple content providers. Each response identifies a different content item. The system makes a determination that at least one content item is associated with a particular web domain. The system selects, based on the determination, a particular content item of the plurality of content items and causes the particular content item to be transmitted to the client device.

Server to server interaction in content item selection events

Techniques are provided for securely obtaining trusted information in an online environment. A first entity stores trusted information from a third entity. A second entity retrieves the trusted information from the first entity. In response to a request from a computing device of the third entity, the first entity identifies a set of attributes selected by the second entity. The first entity identifies, from a profile of the third entity, a set of values that correspond to the set of attributes. The first entity may immediately transmit the set of values to the second entity or may first cause the set of values to be presented to the third entity, for example, in an electronic form. The form may allow some of the values to be editable by the third entity and may prevent other of the values to be edited.

Secure transmission of digital content over a computer network

Generally discussed herein are methods, systems, and apparatuses for tracking user interaction with sponsored and/or unsponsored content. A method can include receiving a tracking event packet including data fields comprising a packet identification, a tracking event identifier, a content identifier, a cost, a campaign identifier, and/or an advertiser identifier, determining whether the tracking event packet is a duplicate based on the packet identification, aggregating non-duplicate tracking event packets by advertiser identification such that packets with advertiser identifications that hash to a same value are aggregated together, and transferring aggregated tracking event packets to a first database and a second database, the first database includes data stored for analytics and the second database includes data stored for billing and campaign performance monitoring.

Tracking interaction with sponsored and unsponsored content

Techniques for responding to content requests that originate from remote computing devices are provided. In one technique, a content request that includes a viewer identifier of a user that requested web content and a contextual entity identifier of an entity that is referenced in the web content is received. In response to receiving the content request, based on the viewer identifier, first profile data about a viewer associated with the viewer identifier is retrieved. Also, based on the contextual entity identifier, second profile data about the entity is retrieved. Based on the first profile data and the second profile data, a content delivery campaign is identified. Particular content to deliver is determined based on the content delivery campaign. The particular content is sent to a computing device that initiated the content request.

Contextual entity analysis for electronic content delivery across a computer network

Apparatus and methods are provided for indexing electronic content to be served to users' mobile and/or stationary communications and computing devices. An index is composed of multiple slices, with each slice storing multiple entries and each entry representing one content item or one campaign or collection of content items. An entry is populated with tokens representing attribute/value pairs of a target audience of the content item and/or property/value pairs of the item or the item's campaign. A query or request to identify content items for serving to a particular user is similarly formatted with tokens representing attribute/value pairs of the user and/or item/campaign. Queries can then be executed rapidly across any or all index entries in any or all slices. Within a slice, entries may be sorted by value or score, and integer components within an individual entry may be sorted to facilitate rapid comparison with a query.
