A monitoring solution allows for testing of forwarding states on network devices. In a particular example, an agent on a router A directs a probe packet to a first neighbor device. The first neighbor device reflects the probe back to the router A. The reflected probe packet undergoes a forwarding state lookup similar to other network traffic and is routed to a second neighbor network device. The second neighbor network device reflects the probe back to router A, which can then intercept the packet and redirect it to an agent on router A for verification whether the lookup was performed correctly.

Testing forwarding states of network devices

A source network device can inject a probe into any one of multiple pipelines by supplying control bits for controlling a demultiplexer through which the probe passes. The control bits of the probe are coupled to the demultiplexer select lines so as to couple an input port of the demultiplexer to one of multiple output ports. As a result, an agent operating on the source network device can test any desired pipeline. In a one-hop embodiment, the source network device redirects the probe back to the agent without transmission to a neighbor. A two-hop embodiment uses a neighbor device to reflect the probe back to the source device in order to test forwarding states of the source network device.

Testing forwarding states on multiple pipelines of a network device

A hierarchical lookup forwarding model to induce a Layer (L2) forwarding look up in a post-routed virtual local area network (VLAN). In one example, a line card of a networking device receives a packet for routing from a first virtual local VLAN to a second VLAN. The line card determines that the packet is associated with a host route having a corresponding incomplete Layer 3 (L3) adjacency. The line card steers the packet to a fabric module of the networking device. The fabric module performs an L2 lookup on the packet and floods the packet to one or more of line cards of the networking devices. The one or more line cards flood the packet on a plurality of external ports of the networking device.

Post-routed VLAN flooding

Embodiments of the invention provide techniques for composing data queries. In one embodiment, a mapping template is provided to represent data in terms that are easy to understand. The mapping template is used to provide a tree structure made up of nodes that are queried. A query may be composed by navigating the tree structure to select nodes of interest and specifying predicates for the selected nodes. Once the query is composed, it may be executed against the data.

Techniques for composing data queries

An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for web service access to a remote data source procedure. The method includes receiving a web service request from a client and identifying the procedure call identifier within the web service request. The web service request includes a procedure call identifier and zero or more parameters. The method includes creating a procedure call to a data source procedure accessible through an Application Program Interface. The procedure call is created at least in part by ordering parameters of the procedure call based on an order of the zero or more parameters in the web service request. The parameters of the procedure call are ordered without using an explicit parameter mapping. The method includes sending a web service response to the client in response to receiving a response from the data source procedure. The web service response includes information responsive to the procedure call.

Apparatus, system, and method for soap access to data source procedures

Embodiments of the present invention provide techniques for mapping hierarchical data from a query result into a tabular display, such as a spreadsheet. The tabular display allows some (or all) of the elements included in the hierarchical display to be mapped to positions on the report. In one embodiment, a field of the result that stores hierarchical data with repeating elements (e.g., an XML document) is mapped into the tabular report using jagged rows. This approach allows a user to map both the hierarchical and relational data in the result set to cells in the spreadsheet, and in the process, handle any embedded collection (repeated element) in the hierarchical data.

A unified query building system generates a source structure comprising nodes from a data structure input of an identified data source, displays the generated source structure in a logical view, adds a selected node or element from the nodes to a design query canvas, generates a query object from the selected node based on a source type of the selected node, presents a logical view of a query function of a selected query object, and generates a unified query comprising the generated query objects. The logical view is displayed in a graphical user interface comprising a design query canvas comprising grids corresponding to functions in a query language such as SQL or XML. The generated unified query is displayed in an actual query view and is outlined in a query outline view.

A method for providing a query builder for at least one query language is disclosed. The method includes providing a plurality of grids and at least one resource for a grid set including at least one of the plurality of grids. The grids correspond to a plurality of functional units of the query language(s). The grid set corresponds to one of the functional units. The resource(s) correspond to the functional unit and to the grid set. The resource(s) are capable of being used as at least one argument for the grid set.
