A power electronic converter for converting electric energy and a method for controlling a power electronic converter are disclosed. The converter includes a plurality of PE switches, and a control system adapted to transmit control information to the PE switches. The control system includes a master controller and a plurality of local controllers controlling the PE switches. The control system further includes one or more slave devices controlled by the master controller. The control system is configured so that the master controller and the one or more slave devices are connected in a ring network topology. Each slave device and one or more of the local controllers are connected in a star network topology.

A method for multicore processor fault detection during execution of safety critical software applications in a multicore processor environment involves dedicating the complete resources of at least a part of at least one processor core to execution of diagnostics software application whilst dedicating remaining resources to execution of a safety-critical software application, thereby enabling parallel execution of the diagnostics software application and the safety-critical software application. There is also provided a controller for multicore processor fault detection during execution of safety critical software applications in a multicore processor environment. The controller includes a multicore processor environment. The controller may be part of a control system. The method may be provided as a computer program.

Multicore processor fault detection for safety critical software applications

A method for controlling a plurality of power converters connected to a power supply network is described. Each power converter includes high-power semiconductor devices. Control signals are sent between a controller and a wireless node of one or more of said plurality of power converters using a wireless communication system. The control signals are transmitted to a local wireless node of one or more of a plurality of power converters. The data transmissions include data packets including control information such that a clock of the local wireless node can be synchronized using time synchronization information of the wireless communication system. In other aspects of the invention a system employing the method and a computer program for carrying out the method are described.

Wireless control of power network switching devices

A method is proposed for operating a system according to TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) with a multiplicity of wireless sensors and/or actuators as nodes (S.. . . S.n) and a base station (BS), said system being installed in a machine or installation, such as industrial robots or an automated manufacturing or production unit, whereby cyclical TDMA data transmission blocks are transmitted and each TDMA data transmission block is composed of consecutive time slots. Each time slot is allocated to a specific node. The uplink signals (UL.. . . UL.n) can be transmitted from the different nodes (S.. . . S.n) to the base station (BS) simultaneously on two, three or more different frequencies (fff) whereas the. downlink signals (DL) are transmitted from the base station (BSA) to the different nodes (S.. . . S.n) on only one frequency, which differs from the uplink frequencies. The time slots and the different uplink frequencies of the different nodes are defined once and are thereafter retained.
