A lithium-containing, transparent glass-ceramic material is provided. The material has low thermal expansion and has an amorphous, lithium-depleted, vitreous surface zone. The zone is at least 50 nm thick on all sides and encloses a crystalline interior, which has high transmission. The material includes a transition region connecting the zone and the interior.

Transparent lithium glass-ceramic material, production and use thereof

A functional element, in particular a cooktop or control panel, having a flat substrate composed of or of glass or glass ceramic, in which a coating that contains a crosslinked polysiloxane is applied to the substrate. In order to improve the scratch resistance of such a coating, according to this invention, a covering layer that contains an uncrosslinked polysiloxane is applied to the coating.

Scratch-resistant silicone coating for cooktops made of glass or glass ceramic

A low-expansion glass ceramic plate, in which a black coating is applied directly or indirectly to at least some areas of at least one side of the plate and the coating contains precious metal. In order to produce a glass ceramic plate of this type that is opaque, while simultaneously retaining a sufficient degree of its thermal stability, according to this invention, the precious metal content in the coating is &#x2267;50 wt. %, the bismuth oxide content in the coating is at most 20 wt. %, and the layer thickness of the coating is at least 200 nm.

Glass ceramic plate

The transparent coating for one or more display areas of a glass or glass-ceramic plate is made by a process using a sol-gel paint containing alkyl silicates as binding agents. The transparent coating is provided on areas of the glass or glass-ceramic plate that have been left uncoated by a color-imparting opaque coating and is formed by applying the sol-gel paint to the areas left open and then thermally treating the sol-gel paint so as to cross-link reactive groups of the alkyl silicates. The coating has organic, non-hydrolyzable groups bound directly to silicon. A process for making the coating and the uses of the coated glass or glass-ceramic plate are part of the invention.

Coating for one or more display areas on a glass or glass-ceramic plate, process for producing said coating, and uses thereof

The black-colored glass ceramic panel has a cooking surface provided with a smooth black decoration by burning in a decorative paint, which contains a colorless zinc-containing glass flux and up to 10 wt. % of a partially coated pigment. The partially coated pigment consists of 20 to 40 wt. % of a black pigment with a grain size of at most 5&#x3bc; and a grain size distribution characterized by a D&#x3c;2&#x3bc; and 60 to 80% by weight of a zinc-free boro-alumino-silicate glass coating the black pigment. The glass flux consists, in wt. %, of LiO, 0-5; NaO, 0-5; KO, &#x3c;2; &#x3a3;LiO+NaO+KO, 1-10; MgO, 0-3; CaO, 0-4; SrO, 0-4; BaO, 0-4; ZnO, &#x3e;0-4; BO, 15-27; AlO, 10-20; SiO, 43-58; TiO, 0-3; ZrO, SbO, 0-2; F, 0-3.

The cook top includes a colorless transparent glass ceramic plate, which is provided with an opaque coating extending over its underside, except that in at least one window area a window coating is provided on the underside of the glass ceramic plate area instead of the opaque coating. In order to optimize colored displays arranged under the at least one window area and to facilitate the use of capacitive touch sensors, the window coating is a burned-in noble metal preparation with an electrical surface resistance of 1 M&#x3a9;/&#x25a1; and in the at least one window area the glass ceramic plate coated with the window coating has a transmission in a range from 1.0 to 21.0% and a light scattering in a range of from 0.0 to 1.0% for visible light with wavelengths of from 400 nm to 750 nm.

Cook top comprising a glass ceramic plate having an opaque coating and an improved window coating on a display window on an underside of the plate

The glass ceramic plate for a cooking apparatus is transparent to visible light and IR radiation and has a noble metal film on its underside. The noble metal film is composed of an alloy of gold, platinum and/or palladium, which imparts a reflective property to it. It contains from 0 to 5 percent by weight, in relation to a total metal content, of silver, copper, silicon, bismuth and other metals that are not noble metals. The glass ceramic plate coated with the noble metal film has a spectral transmission of 0 to 12% in the infrared region of the spectrum. When a decoration consisting of a grid of unsymmetrically distributed elements is provided on the topside of the glass ceramic plate, defects in the glass ceramic material can be concealed. The invention also includes a method of coating.

Glass ceramic plate providing a cooking surface for a cooking apparatus and having a coating on an underside thereof and coating process for making same

A transparent, colorless glass or glass-ceramic panel has a visually dense, high-temperature-stable coating having an organic/inorganic network structure containing filling material particles and a color-imparting pigment. The mechanically stable, visually dense coating has no melt-reaction zone at the surface of the panel, which is coated with the coating, so that it does not impair the panel strength. The inorganic network structure can be made from a SiO-based sol. The coating is made by introducing the color-imparting pigment and the filling material particles into a reactive organic/inorganic network structure; applying the resulting organic/inorganic network structure containing the pigment and the filling material particles to the panel to coat the panel and then burning-in the organic/inorganic network structure with the pigment and the filling material particles under thermal conditions to form the coating with no melt-reaction zone.

Transparent colorless glass or glass-ceramic panel having an optically dense colored coating and method of making same

The cook top has a transparent, colorless glass ceramic or glass panel providing a cooking surface, which is made from pre-stressed special glass, and an IR-permeable undercoat on the underside of the panel, which is a heat-resistant inorganic enamel paint. In order to provide a heat-resistant cook top, through which the internal parts of the cooking unit cannot be observed, without reducing the strength of the cook top, the inorganic enamel paint includes 70 to 99, preferably 80 to 95, percent by weight of inorganic pigment and from 1 to 30, preferably 5 to 20, percent by weight of glass flux. The glass flux preferably is a borosilicate glass with a thermal expansion coefficient less than or equal to 4*10K. The coating may be applied by screen printing techniques.
