A method for the deployment and retrieval of data loggers, which are deployed in a first step at separate locations on a supply network having numerous branching pipelines, e.g. for drinking water, which record, in a second step, at least the flow sounds of the medium flowing at the deployed locations, and which, in a third step, are read out by a vehicle driving past, having a readout device disposed therein, wherein the reading device is allocated a GPS module, and that when the data loggers are deployed at the locations assigned to them on the pipeline, the current GPS locations of the data loggers at said locations are stored in the readout device.

Method for acoustically locating leaks in underground or aboveground piping systems, in which at least two noise data loggers receiving the leak noise and being arranged in mutual distance from one another are brought in physical contact with the piping system to be examined and measure simultaneously the noise level (dB) and the frequency of a leak, whereas both measured values of frequency and noise level are combined in a single value (ESA), whereas the ESA value is calculated from the decimal logarithm of the frequency of the leak noise multiplied with the logarithmic level value of the leak noise multiplied with a constant factor.

Method for acoustically localizing leaks in piping systems

A method and apparatus for determining leaks in sewage pipes. The apparatus includes a measuring probe having several radially arranged measuring electrode segments, the measuring probe being positioned in the sewage pipe. With the probe sections and electrode segments being arranged in such radial manner, the electrical probe, once electrically powered, measures a leakage current emitted by the probe's central section with several probes sections at a same electrical potential, and divides the measured leakage currents of the probe's central section in a mathematical operation into two or more electrode segments to determine both an axial and radial location for defects within the sewage pipe. A higher leakage current in one segment indicates the location of a leak, and the amplitude of the leakage current indicates the volume of the leak.
