A method for creating an electrical earth contact to electrically couple a contact shoe to an electrical contact stud using a polymeric material cap nut includes creating an external thread on a shank of the stud. A contact flange is fixed to the stud such that the contact flange faces the shank. The cap nut is selected from a non-conductive polymeric material and from a plurality of sizes of cap nuts. The cap nut is threaded onto the shank until the cap nut engages the contact flange. A torque is applied to the cap nut, the torque selected from a torque range operating to prevent pullout of the shank to electrically engage the contact shoe between the cap nut and the flange.

For removing a cap (2) made of a plastic material, which is disposed on a shank (9) of a metal stud, it is proposed that the cap has tool engagement regions (15a, 15b), through which a substantially tangentially directed deformation force (F) is introduced by means of jaws (20, 21) into the cap (2) so that at least one portion (14a, 14b, 14c), which extends at least over part of the axial length of the shank (9) and is formed between the tool engagement regions (15a, 15b), is plastically deformed in such a way that the cap (2) releases the shank (9) and the cap (2) may be pulled off in axial direction of the shank (9).

The invention relates to a mounting system with a fastening stud and a mounting part which can be applied to the fastening stud and has a receiving space for receiving the fastening stud, wherein the internal surface of the receiving space and the external peripheral surface of the fastening stud are frictionally connected to one another when the mounting part is applied and wherein the external peripheral surface has a structure with at least one substantially peripherally extending crest-like relief of dimensionally stable material and the internal surface has a structure with at least one relief of plastically deformable material extending substantially transversely to the peripheral direction. The radial elasticity of the fastening stud which is provided in any case by a slot is preferably increased by an additional axial aperture.

A fastening device is described with which rod-shaped articles of different diameters can be fastened on a substrate. The fastening device consists of a U-shaped base body in which a rod-shaped article can be arranged and which can be connected to the substrate, and of a beam-shaped closure member with which the arms of the 'U' can be closed. One end of the beam-shaped closure member can be connected to the base body via a catch connection with teeth. At the other end of the beam-shaped closure member there is shaped a joint lug which forms a hinge-like joint with a joint pin shaped on the base body. A clip for the retention of pipes and cables of various diameters or thicknesses comprising a first pair of resilient support members spaced apart by a distance smaller than the diameter of the smallest object to be retained and supported, the resilient support members being temporarily displaceable to allow the object to press between the support members and the support members resuming their original position after the passage of the object so as to retain the object and further comprising as opposing resilient support members a pair of flexible fingers which are arranged scissor-wise side-by-side and adapted to urge the object towards the first pair of resilient support members so that the object is maintained in contact therewith. The first pair of resilient support members may take the form of relatively short resilient fingers or may be flexible fin-like members extending across the clip.

A push button is provided which is adaptable for pressing onto a stud having redges extending radially therefrom. The push button is provided with at least one resilient finger protruding from the wall of a blind hole formed in the shank of the button. The resilient finger is angularly disposed toward the center of the blind hole such that the end face of the finger is disposed behind a ridge with the push button positioned on a stud. The push button is provided with an opening for each resilient finger, which opening extends from outside the button towards the locality of the end face of the resilient finger and is of a dimension to eclipse, or cover the cross-section of the resilient finger when projected onto the plane of the opening.

A plastic fastener for pushing axially onto a headed or threaded stud has a hollow shank, part of the wall of which is constituted by a flexible resilient finger. The finger has a deep step for latching under the head of the T-stud and opposite it is a window in the wall of the shank, the floor of the window forming a corresponding step to latch under the other side of the stud shoulder. The fastener provides greater resistance to pull-off than has usually been found in fasteners having closed ended hollow shanks.

A one-piece plastic pipe clip has one or more pipe-receiving portions, one wall of which is provided by a rockable element which overlies a stud-receiving hole in the clip body so that the element will close over a pipe and secure it when the clip is assembled on a projecting stud. The elements may have staggered teeth to engage a screw thread on the stud and resilient feet to engage the surface from which the stud projects.

Each pipe can be easily mounted in the clip without risk of damage due to the yielding of a resilient arm which, after receiving the pipe and embracing it, is locked against opening should the pipe be accidentally pulled away.
