The reference air channel of a gas sensor or a lambda probe having a laminate body produced by printing technology is provided. The laminate body is produced by printing a suitably structured layer onto a neighboring layer, for example, by screen printing.

Gas sensor, in particular a lambda sensor

An electrochemical sensor, in particular for determining the oxygen content in exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, has a solid electrolyte element having at least one first electrode, at least one second electrode, and at least one heating element. The second electrode located to the heating element is connected to ground, and the first electrode coacting with the second electrode is negatively polarized, a negative operating voltage being provided.

Arrangement for wiring an electrochemical sensor

A planar sensor element for determining gas components, which includes a layer structure with a heating element integrated therein with a layer-shaped heating conductor. The heating conductor is arranged in a layer plane of the layer structure so that an at least approximately homogeneous distribution of the heating power of the heating element over the cross-section of the layer structure is obtained.

A method for manufacturing a sensing element is provided, in particular for determining the oxygen content in exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, a composite construction having at least one ceramic paste (green film) present in film form being sintered to yield the sensing element, and sharp edges of the sensing element being blunted before sintering to increase the thermal shock resistance of the sensing element.

Method for producing a sensor element

An exhaust gas sensor includes a housing and a sensor element supported by the housing. The sensor element includes a support member having an exhaust side, a reference side, and an aperture extending through the support member between the exhaust side and the reference side. The sensor element further includes an exhaust-side electrode on the exhaust side of the support member. The exhaust-side electrode is electrically connected to a contact on the reference side of the support member via a lead extending through the aperture. The aperture is sealed around the lead such that gas cannot pass through the aperture. The support member is oriented substantially parallel to the flow of exhaust gases when the exhaust gas sensor is installed on a vehicle. The sensor further includes a contact pin in the housing that engages the contact and biases the sensor element against a portion of the housing.

Miniaturized exhaust gas sensor

For the reduction of internal stresses and formation of cracks caused thereby, an exhaust gas probe includes two measuring electrodes separated by a solid electrolyte layer made substantially of ZrO and a circuit-board conductor layer for electrically heating the solid electrolyte layer. The circuit-board conductor layer is firmly connected to the solid electrolyte layer via a first sealingly sintered insulating layer made of an Al O -containing material. A pore-forming material is added to the Al O -containing material before. sintering.

Exhaust gas probe

An electrochemical sensor element, in particular for determining the oxygen level in gas mixtures, includes at least one measuring electrode exposed to a measured gas, at least one reference electrode exposed to a reference gas, at least one heating device, and one reference gas channel, through which the reference gas can be supplied to the reference electrode. The reference electrode is connected to the reference gas via a volume provided with pores. The volume is formed in a layer between the reference gas channel and the reference electrode.

Electrochemical sensor element with a porous reference gas accumulator

An electrochemical sensor has a sensor element, and is used to determine a gas concentration of a gas to be analyzed. The sensor element has a first solid electrolyte layer, an electrode that includes an electrode surface and an electrode lead, and a second solid electrolyte layer; a gas channel being introduced into the first solid electrolyte layer in such a manner, that the electrode is situated in a first, clamped region between the first and the second solid electrolyte layers, and in a second, open region between the second solid electrolyte layer and the gas compartment. In a transition region between the clamped region and the open region, the electrode borders on a layer pattern, which is constructed in such a manner, that the electrode is subjected to a lower pressure during a laminating procedure.

Electrochemical sensor

An electrochemical gas sensor for determining the concentration of gas components in a gas mixture, in particular for determining NOx and HC. The gas sensor includes a first measuring gas space which is connected to the measuring gas, and a second measuring gas space which is connected to the first measuring gas space by a connecting channel. Furthermore, a first electrode and a second electrode, arranged in the first measuring gas space, and at least one third electrode arranged in the second measuring gas space, and at least one fourth electrode are provided. The two measuring gas spaces are arranged in layer planes on top of one another and are separated from one another by at least one oxygen ion conducting layer, the connecting channel passing through the oxygen ion conducting layer.

Electrochemical gas sensor

An electrochemical sensor for ascertaining a gas concentration of a measuring gas includes an electrochemical element, including a first solid electrolyte body having an electrochemical pump cell and a first and a second electrode, and having a gas compartment which is connected via a gas access opening to the measuring-gas compartment, and in which one of the two electrodes is arranged. The electrochemical element further includes a second solid electrolyte body having an electrochemical sensor cell (Nernst cell) and a third and a fourth electrode. The surface of the first solid electrolyte body faces the measuring-gas compartment, and the gas access opening is covered by a porous protective layer. The electrochemical sensor includes a layer that exhibits a higher density or a lower porosity compared to the protective layer and that is allocated to the porous protective layer.

A gas sensor and a method for its manufacture are described. The gas sensor has a solid electrolyte having at least one measuring electrode and one porous protective coating. The measuring electrode has an electrically conductive base layer and a further layer, the further layer god being deposited in the pores of the porous protective coating adjacent to the base layer via galvanic deposition. In order to deposit the further layer via galvanic deposition, the basic body, which has been fused with the base layer and the protective coating via vitrification, is immersed in a galvanizing bath, the base layer being connected as the cathode.

Gas sensor and corresponding production method

A sensor element for limiting-current sensors for determining the lambda value of gas mixtures, in particular of exhaust gases from internal combustion engines. The sensor element has inner and outer pump electrodes arranged on a solid electrolyte foil. The inner pump electrode is arranged in a diffusion channel that is bordered by a diffusion barrier, the pump electrode lying in the diffusion direction of the gas mixture downstream of the diffusion barrier. The gas entry hole, essentially perpendicular to the surface of the solid electrolyte foil, is led through the solid electrolyte foil into the diffusion channel. The diffusion barrier is arranged so as to be set back in the diffusion channel from the interior wall of the gas entry hole. For manufacturing the sensor element, a chamber created upstream of the diffusion barrier is filled with a cavity-creating material, which evaporates in the sintering of the sensor element and thus forms a cavity in the diffusion channel.

Sensor element for limiting-current sensors for determining the lambda value of gas mixtures

A plate-shaped sensor element is proposed, in particular for determining the oxygen level in exhaust gases of internal combustion engines. The sensor element has at least one measuring cell with an oxygen-ion-conducting solid electrolyte and a heating element, the measuring cell and the heating element being connected with an electrical insulation layer. The material of the insulation layer is made of at least one crystalline, non-metallic material and at least one glass-forming material, a glazing filled with the crystalline, non-metallic material being formed when the sensor element is sintered.

Sensor element

An oxygen sensor for determining the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas flow of an internal combustion engine. The sensor includes an outer electrode exposed to the exhaust side and a reference electrode exposed to the ambient air. In the sensor, a space adjacent to the reference electrode or surrounding the reference electrode has an adsorbing and/or absorbing agent, which is introduced, for example, in a loose powder packing or a multiple pellet packing. Other versions of the novel oxygen sensor also have an oxygen supplying material, such as, for example, Mn-oxide, Ba-oxide and/or Ce-oxide, to help promote combustion of exhaust gas components/pollutants and any residue chemicals left remaining from the sensor manufacturing process.

Oxygen sensor

An electrochemical sensor determining a gas concentration of the measuring gas. The sensor has an electrochemical element including a first solid electrolyte body having an electrochemical pump cell and a first (external pump) and a second (internal pump) electrode and having a gas chamber which is connected to the measuring gas chamber via a gas supply opening and in which the second electrode is arranged. The electrochemical element also includes a second solid electrolyte body having an electrochemical sensor cell (e.g., a Nernst cell) and a third and fourth electrode, each electrode having a lead for the electrical contacting. The leads of the first and second electrodes are decoupled capacitively from the lead of at least the fourth electrode by a device.
