An inking unit for printing units of rotary presses is independent of the printing unit and is configured as a self-contained unit. The linking unit can be removed from the printing unit and has a dedicated drive for a plurality of rolls, the drive being arranged on side walls which are assigned to the inking unit.

A doctor blade device for the removal of dampening medium from a soft surface of an ink applicator roller in the inking unit of a printing machine, having at least one doctor blade placed against the surface of the roller and having an edge radius in the range of 2 mm to 10 mm.

Apparatus for the metered coating of a printing machine roller with a liquid application medium, in particular for the metered coating of an ink applicator roller with printing ink, containing at least one doctor roller placed with its working surface onto the printing machine roller and carried by a doctor roller bed. The doctor roller is slide-mounted on its working surface by means of at least one sliding surface formed on the doctor roller bed. The application medium can be fed to or discharged from the surface of the printing machine roller by rotation of the doctor roller, through a clearance between the sliding surface and the working surface of the doctor roller. A pressure-regulatable valve for regulating the pressure prevailing in the clearance is arranged between a pressure source for the application medium and the clearance.

Doctor roller apparatus

A device for metering and equalizing an ink layer on the surface of a printing machine roller, in particular on the surface of an ink applicator roller in the inking unit of a printing machine, the surface being additionally wetted with dampening medium. The device contains at least two doctor blades which are arranged preferably at a short distance one behind the other in the direction of rotation of the roller and rest under pressure against the surface of the roller and of which a front doctor blade, with respect to the direction of rotation of the roller, has a doctor blade edge radius such that essentially only the dampening medium, but not the ink layer, can be wiped off from the surface of the roller by said front doctor blade, while a rear doctor blade, with respect to the direction of rotation of the roller, has, by comparison, a smaller doctor blade edge radius such that at least part of the ink layer which has remained on the surface of the roller can be wiped off.
