Disclosed is a stent for transluminal implantation in hollow organs, particularly in blood vessels, the ureter, the esophagus, the colon, the duodenum or bile ducts. The stent comprises a first section comprising a substantially tubular first body which extends along a first longitudinal axis and comprises a first lateral end and a first central end; a second section comprising a substantially tubular second body which extends along a second longitudinal axis and comprises a second lateral end and a second central end, wherein the first and second stent sections are connected to each other in the region of the central ends by means of a coupling section, the stent comprising a plurality of cells which are defined by bordering elements formed by the tubular bodies, and wherein the first central end of the first stent section is embodied in a sloping manner.

The invention relates to a stent for transluminal implantation in hollow organs, in particular in blood vessels, ureters, esophagi, colons, duodena, or bile ducts, comprising a substantially tubular body, which can be transferred from a compressed state having a first cross-sectional diameter into an expanded state having an enlarged second cross-sectional diameter, wherein the stent comprises a plurality of cells, which are defined by bordering elements formed by the tubular body. The stent is distinguished in that some of the cells are extended in the longitudinal direction of the stent in comparison with the remaining cells in order to form a slanted end face of the stent.

The disclosed stent comprises at least two support portions and at least one connecting portion which follow one another in the longitudinal direction of the stent. Each support portion has multiple openings in the wall of the tubular body and border elements which are formed by the tubular body and which surround the openings and together with said openings form support portion cells in the expanded state. Two support portions which are adjacent to each other in the longitudinal direction are connected via a connecting portion lying between said support portions, and each of the mutually facing end faces of the adjacent support portions are formed by a row of end-face cells of the respective support portion. The connecting portion comprises connecting elements which are formed by the tubular body and which connect the mutually facing end faces of the two adjacent support portions.

A system and method for delivering a surgical clip to a surgical site within a patient's body to compress body tissue is disclosed. In one embodiment for the system of the present invention, the system includes an endoscopic device that has an endoscope cap disposed on a distal end of the endoscopic device. A surgical clip is removably disposed on an outside surface of the endoscope cap. A deployment device is associated with the surgical clip for deploying the surgical clip from the endoscope cap to the body tissue that is to be compressed.

In a tactile opto-electronic pressure sensor having a body with a rigid matrix including axially extending bores in which hollow cylinders of an elastic material are firmly disposed such that the front ends of the hollow cylinder project from one side of the matrix while the opposite ends of the hollow cylinders are flush with the other side of the matrix, a light emitting electro-luminescent foil is disposed on the front faces of the hollow cylinders such that light emitted therefrom shines through the hollow cylinders and is recorded by an evaluation device arranged at the other side of said matrix, the hollow cylinders being axially compressible such that their openings become smaller with increasing forces acting thereon, the light intensity received by the evaluation units depending on the forces applied to the hollow cylinders.

In a pressure sensing system comprising a tactile pressure sensor with an opaque cylindrical body disposed in a tube and having axial passages extending between its opposite end faces, an electroluminescent foil is disposed at one end face and a support body which includes light collecting means is disposed at the other end face so that light emitted by the luminescent foil and passing through the passages--dependent on the pressure applied to the one end face--is conducted to an imaging device for determining the pressure distribution applied to the one end face of the cylindrical body.
