A roll stand with at least one working roll for rolling strip material and with a hydraulic arrangement for controlling a roll gap of the roll stand, comprises at least one hydraulic adjustment unit for adjusting the roll gap, the hydraulic adjustment unit comprising a cylinder and an adjusting piston dividing the cylinder into a first chamber and a second chamber; a first double-acting valve arrangement and a second double-acting valve arrangement which are each connected to the first chamber and the second chamber for variable control of the adjusting unit, wherein the second double-acting valve arrangement is connected in parallel with the first valve arrangement and has a larger nominal volume flow than the latter; and wherein the adjusting unit can be pressurized with an working pressure of more than 200 bar.

Hydraulic control of a roll gap for a roll stand

A process includes flexible rolling of a strip made of a metallic material, wherein a thickness profile with different sheet thicknesses along the length of the strip is produced such that successive regions of the flexibly rolled strip each correspond to a target thickness profile of a sheet metal blank to be cut out of same; determining a measured thickness profile of a plurality of successive regions of the strip; calculating a target position in the strip for a sheet metal blank to be cut out of the strip depending on the generated measured thickness profile of at least two successive regions of the strip; cutting the flexibly rolled strip by at least one cutting device along the target position for producing the sheet meal blank. A plant is further provided for producing a sheet metal blank.

A device for transporting elongated metal material comprises two chain drive units with a continuous chain, which are arranged such that the elongated material is passed through between the chains with frictional contact so that the elongated material is moved; two controllable pressure units configured to apply pressure forces to the chains towards each other; at least one controllable adjusting unit which is mechanically connected to at least one of the chain drive units and which is configured to move same in a longitudinal direction of the elongated material during operation. A plant can have such a device, and a process is used for controlling such a device.
