A technique for storing softbits of messages received according to a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) protocol is disclosed. As to a method aspect of the technique, a first storage () and a second storage () are provided. The first storage and a second storage include a plurality of memory segments () allocatable to HARQ processes. A first message related to a first HARQ process is received. The first message is protected by a channel code of the HARQ protocol and represented by softbits. The softbits of the first message are stored in a first segment of the first storage. The first segment is allocated to the first HARQ process. The first storage is accessible by a channel decoding unit () for decoding the channel code. If a number of allocated segments in the first storage, the decoding of which has not been yet completed, exceeds a threshold, the allocation for the first HARQ process is changed from the first segment in the first storage to a second segment in the second storage.

Technique for storing softbits

A clock signal for electronic circuitry is generated by generating, based on which one of a plurality of application use cases is presently active, a first signal that indicates a first selected one of a plurality of clock signal operating points. Based on the electronic circuitry's present speed requirement, a second signal is generated that indicates a second selected one of the clock signal operating points. For any given one of the application use cases, the speed requirement need not remain constant for the duration of the application use case. Based on whichever one of the first and second signals is associated with a higher clock frequency operating point, a third signal is generated that indicates which clock signal operating point (and possibly what voltage level) should be active. The third signal controls generation of a clock (and possibly also voltage level).

The method of protecting a secret key from being read by a non-secure software application, comprises a step () of recording the secret key as a routine stored in an executable-only memory. The present invention relates to a digital I/Q modulator which efficiently supports multi-time-slot operation of wireless TDMA transmitters employing linear power amplifiers. According to the present invention, dips are introduced in the envelope of the I/Q signal in the guard interval between adjacent time-slots or bursts. The dips avoid interference on adjacent radio frequency channels when the gain of the TX chain in switched abruptly in order to change the power level of the TX signal or when the modulation scheme is changed. Also, a method is provided for generating the dips, which is particularly attractive if the modulation scheme in adjacent time-slots changes from GMSK to 8PSK or vice versa.

Processor memory system

A method of operating a storage system comprising a main memory and a cache memory structured in address-related lines, in which cache memory can be loaded with data from the main memory and be read out by a processor as required. During the processor's access to data of a certain address in the cache memory, at which address certain data from the main memory which has a corresponding address is stored, a test is made to determine whether sequential data s stored at the next address in the cache memory; and this sequential data, if unavailable, can be loaded from the main memory in the cache memory via a prefetch, the latter only taking place when the processor accesses a predefined line section lying in a line.

The invention discloses a mobile radio telephone set including at least one control processor and at least one signal processor which are at least occasionally not in an active mode. To reduce the energy consumption of the mobile radio telephone set in the simplest manner possible, a control unit selects operating modes at least for the control processor and/or the signal processor. By utilizing a separate control unit, more particularly two or more coupled processors or other switching units of the whole mobile radio telephone set may be controlled independently. Each coupled unit may at once individually be set to its own operating mode to operate only the currently necessary units in this manner and reduce the energy consumption in this manner.
