A thermoplastic composition includes from about 30 wt % to about 95 wt % poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), and from about 5 wt % to about 70 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 25 wt % to about 45 wt %. A method of making a thermoplastic composition includes: (a) combining from about 30 wt % to about 95 wt % poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and from about 5 wt % to about 70 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 25 wt % to about 45 wt % to form a mixture; and melt processing the mixture to polymerize it and form the thermoplastic composition.

Transparent and flexible blends of PMMA and polycarbonate-siloxane copolymer

A nano-composite includes a thermoplastic copolymer includes a polycarbonate copolymer including repeating siloxane units and a plurality of quantum dots. A method of making a polymer film includes forming a masterbatch composition by combining (1) a first thermoplastic copolymer including a polycarbonate copolymer including repeating siloxane units and (2) a plurality of quantum dots; combining the masterbatch composition with a second thermoplastic polymer to form a mixture; and forming the polymer film from the mixture. The polycarbonate copolymer has a siloxane content of from 15 wt % to 65 wt %.

Stable quantum dot compositions

Thermoplastic compositions include: (a) from about 30 wt % to about 95 wt % poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA); and (b) from about 5 wt % to about 70 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 25 wt % to about 45 wt %. Methods for making a molded article, include: (a) combining from about 30 wt % to about 95 wt % PMMA and from about 5 wt % to about 70 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 25 wt % to about 45 wt % to form a blend; (b) melt processing and pelletizing the blend; and (c) injection molding the article from the melt processed and pelletized blend.

Anti-drip compositions including transparent blends of PMMA and PC-siloxane copolymer

A thermoplastic composition includes a poly(etherimide), a poly(ester-carbonate), a poly(carbonate-siloxane), a flow promoter, and a hydrogenated block copolymer of an alkenyl aromatic compound and a conjugated diene. The flow promoter includes units derived from styrene and acrylonitrile, preferably an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene, a styrene-acrylonitrile, a high rubber graft acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate copolymer, or a combination including at least one of the foregoing. A method of making the thermoplastic composition and an article including the thermoplastic composition are also disclosed.

Thermoplastic composition, method for the manufacture thereof, and articles prepared therefrom

Compositions formed from a blend of polyetherimide, siloxane/bisphenol-A polyester/polycarbonate copolymer, polycyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate, polycarbonate/siloxane copolymer, and styrene-ethylene-butadiene-styrene are disclosed that provide superior performance in terms of notched Izod impact, glass transition temperature (Tg), strength after aging, ability to withstand secondary processing conditions, and in other respects. Such compositions exceed critical-to-quality requirements for use in manufacturing components for electronic communication devices.

Polymer blend composition for electronic communication devices

Thermoplastic compositions include: from about 62 wt % to about 99 wt % poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) or copolymers thereof; and from about 1 wt % to about 38 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 25 wt % to about 45 wt %. The compositions are scratch resistant. Scratch resistance may be determined as comprising a scratch depth of less than 20 micron (&#x3bc;m) as measured in accordance with the Erichsen scratch hardness test at a force of 4 Newton (N). Articles including the thermoplastic composition are also described.

A polyetherimide composition comprises the polymerization product of a catalyzed imidization product of a 3-substituted phthalic anhydride and a sulfone diamine having improved melt stability and reduced corrosivity, and a method of manufacture thereof.

A thermoplastic composition includes: from about 5 wt % to about 70 wt % poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA); from about 15 wt % to about 50 wt % of a first poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 35 wt % to about 45 wt %; and from about 10 wt % to about 45 wt % of a second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer. The second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer has a siloxane content of from about 15 wt % to about 25 wt % or from about 4 wt % to about 8 wt %.

High ductility blends of PMMA and polycarbonate-siloxane copolymer

A thermoplastic composition comprising, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic composition, 5 to 30 wt. % of a poly(arylene ether-sulfone); and 50 to 95 wt. % of a polycarbonate component comprising a poly(carbonate-siloxane) and optionally a polycarbonate homopolymer; wherein a sample of the composition has a notched Izod impact value of greater than or equal to 30 kJ/m; a tensile yield strength retention of 80% and higher after exposure of an ISO tensile bar for 24 hours to sunscreen under 0.5% strain compared to a non-exposed reference; and an elongation at break retention of 80% and higher after exposure of an ISO tensile bar for 24 hours to sunscreen under 0.5% strain compared to a non-exposed reference.

Thermoplastic composition with balanced chemical resistance and impact properties

A foldable cover assembly includes a glass layer having a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, a first thickness at a first location and a second thickness at a second location, wherein the second thickness is less than the first thickness. The second thickness is further effective to provide bendability to the glass layer. The foldable cover assembly further includes an optically clear polymer film disposed on the first surface of the glass layer. The polymer film includes a thermoplastic polymer, a thermoset polymer, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing, wherein a 100 micrometer-thick sample of the optically clear polymer film transmits greater than 85% of visible light as determined according to ASTM D1003-00. A method for the manufacture of the foldable cover assembly is also described. The foldable cover assembly can be useful for use with an electronic device.

Disclosed herein is a composition comprising a poly(arylene sulfide); a polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer; glass fiber and an optional platy filler. The polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer has greater than or equal to 10 weight percent siloxane content, based on the total weight of the polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer. The composition retains greater than or equal to 60% of the initial viscosity after being retained at 320&#xb0; C. for 30 minutes and the composition has an OSU peak heat release less than 45 kW/m2 when measured using the method of FAR F25.4 and according to FAR 25.853 (d). Articles comprising the composition are also described.

Poly(arylene sulfide) blend and articles made therefrom

A polyetherimide composition is disclosed including a polyetherimide sulfone having a glass transition temperature of 240 to 320 C, preferably 245 to 312 C, and a particulate, thermally conductive filler composition. A layer of the polyetherimide composition resists deformation as determined by IPC method TM-650 when subjected to a lead-free solder reflow process at a temperature of greater than or equal to 260 C, preferably 260 to 350 C. A layer including the polyetherimide composition further has a thermal conductivity of 2.5 to 15 W/mK, preferably 3 to 12 W/mK, as determined in accordance with ISO 22007-2:2008.

Chemical-resistant thermoplastic compositions, articles formed therefrom, and methods of manufacture thereof

A thermoplastic composition comprises, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic composition, 10 to 45 wt. % of a poly(etherimide); 35 to 90 wt. % of a polycarbonate component comprising a polycarbonate homopolymer, a poly(carbonate-siloxane), or a combination thereof; 0.5 to 20 wt. % of a compatibilizer polycarbonate component comprising a poly(carbonate-arylate ester), a phthalimidine copolycarbonate, or a combination thereof; up to 5 wt. % of an ultraviolet light stabilizer; and 0 to 20 wt. % of TiO, wherein a sample of the composition has a 50% higher notched Izod impact energy value compared to the composition without the compatibilizer component.
