In a network comprising a plurality of macro base stations, a plurality of micro base stations and a plurality of user devices (UEs), a method of establishing a wireless communication network includes: assigning the micro base stations into a plurality of clusters and selecting a micro base station from each of the clusters as a cluster head; receiving, from cluster heads of the clusters by the network device, information about candidate sub-clusters determined by UEs, each of the candidate sub-clusters comprises micro base stations whose signal power received at a UE exceeds a pre-defined threshold; identifying at least two schemes of grouping the micro base stations into non-overlapping sub-clusters based on the candidate sub-clusters; for a scheme of the at least two schemes, making each of the UEs select to access a macro base station or to be associated with one of the non-overlapping sub-clusters of the scheme base on respective measurements of signals received from at least one of a macro base station and a sub-cluster of the non-overlapping sub-clusters of the scheme; suppressing, by a UE, inter-symbol interference by subtracting a tail of a first symbol from a second symbol before recovering the second symbol; suppressing, by the UE, inter-carrier interference by adding a tail estimated of the second symbol to the second symbol before recovering the second symbol; acquiring information about power consumption of each of the macro base stations and power consumption of each of the micro base stations in communications with the UEs which performs inter-symbol interference suppression and inter-carrier interference suppression at the UEs; and making the micro base stations perform joint transmissions in sub-clusters as specified in a scheme selected from the at least two schemes according to the information about power consumption.

An input method editor (IME) described herein couples scenarios of the input of the user with specific network services to offer more relevant and richer candidates for higher input productivity. Data relating to a computer application in which the input candidates are to be input and/or context relating to a user-submitted query is collected and analyzed to determine a scenario. The input candidates may include text candidates and rich candidates. The IME may select a scenario-tuned and type specific engine to identify the text candidates and/or rich candidates. The scenario-tuned text candidate engines leverage scenario-tuned language models and lexicons, and the scenario-tuned rich candidate engines leverage scenario-relevant web services, such as image, mapping, and video search, when available and appropriate.

Techniques for interactively presenting word-alignments of multilingual translations and automatically improving those translations based upon user feedback are described herein. With one or more implementations of the techniques described herein, a word-alignment user-interface (UI) concurrently displays a pair of bilingual sentences, where one is a translation of the other, and interactively highlights linked (i.e., 'word-aligned') words and phrases of the pair. Other implementations of the techniques described herein offer an option for a user to provide feedback about the existing word-alignments or realign the words or phrases. In still other described implementations, word-alignment is automatically improved based upon that user feedback.

Interactive multilingual word-alignment techniques

Described herein is a technology that facilitates efficient wild card auto completion of an input term. The technology supports the input term including multiple, predefined, distinct wild card characters, escape characters, special characters with language specific functionality, delimiters, and context designation. Wild card auto completion is based on a regular expression engine that supports the multiple, predefined, wild card characters. In addition, the technology supports a single input that may include multiple parts including context, domain, parts of speech, and a number of words in a result phrase. In various embodiments the technology facilitates pattern optimization to merge a subset of consecutive homogenous wild card characters and provides a selection of matching tools based on criteria including the type of wild card character included in the input term and where the wild card character appears in the input term as well as context.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for presenting video as at least a portion of the background of search engine home pages are provided. Upon receiving a request for presentation of a search engine home page, a static image is transmitted for presentation as at least a portion of the background for the search engine home page. Also transmitted is a streaming video file. The static image may or may not be associated with the streaming video file. After a predetermined amount of time, play of the streaming video file is initiated without user action, the streaming video file replacing the static image as at least a portion of the background of the search engine home page. In this way, the user receives a seamless transition from a static image to a video presentation and is provided a rich, immersive experience at the search engine home page.

A method and system for identifying documents relevant to a query that specifies a part of speech is provided. A retrieval system receives from a user an input query that includes a word and a part of speech. Upon receiving an input query that includes a word and a part of speech, the retrieval system identifies documents with a sentence that includes that word collocated with a word that is used as that part of speech. The retrieval system displays to the user an indication of the identified documents.

Techniques for providing arbitrary precision floating number (APFN) processing are disclosed. In some aspects, an APFN store may be used to store a large number (i.e., an APFN) having many significant digits, which in turn may enable a high degree of precision in mathematical operations. An APFN module may be used to create and define the APFN store. The APFN module may enable a user to define a precision (significant digits) for the large number that corresponds to the size of an array of bytes in the APFN store that are allocated for storing the large number. In further aspects, the APFN store may be used to store additional intermediary data and a resultant.
