The disclosure concerns various devices implemented to provide a therapeutic gas rich environment to promote healing, reduce fibrosis and scar formations while maintaining anti-inflammatory, anti-thrombotic, antimicrobial, and vasodilating properties. The device generally includes a gas-donor composition that is embedded within a fibrous holding layer. Coupled to one side of the fibrous holding layer is a water-permeable layer and coupled to an opposite side of the fibrous holding layer is a gas-permeable layer. The water-permeable layer is configured to receive and communicate water to the gas-donor composition, wherein upon contact with the water, the gas-donor composition is configured to deliver a therapeutic gas through the gas-permeable layer to a treatment site of a subject.

Device for providing therapeutic gas

The disclosure concerns various medical devices implemented to provide a nitric oxide rich environment for anti-microbial or anti-thrombogenic benefits. The medical device generally includes a nitric oxide donor material that is contained within a sealed cavity, and a transport medium that defines and captivates the entirety of the cavity, wherein the transport medium is permeable to both water and nitric oxide. As the nitric oxide donor material becomes saturated with water from the surrounding tissue or fluids, nitric oxide is chemically released, and the resulting nitric oxide is communicated through the transport medium to a treatment site for anti-microbial and anti-thrombogenic benefits.

Medical products and methods configured for controlled release of nitric oxide

The disclosure concerns medical devices configured to utilize nitric oxide (NO) donor materials to release NO gas upon contact with moisture in order to mitigate bacterial proliferation, coagulation, or a combination thereof, at a site of a biosensor integrated within the medical device. A novel multi-lumen medical device is described, the device having a first lumen for containing the NO donor material and producing the NO gas, and having a second lumen for housing biosensor componentry. A channel between the first and second lumens serves to communicate NO gas from the first lumen to a sensor-volume of the biosensor.

A method of pressure forming a brown part from metal and/or ceramic particle feedstocks includes: introducing into a mold cavity or extruder a first feedstock and one or more additional feedstocks or a green or brown state insert made from a feedstock, wherein the different feedstocks correspond to the different portions of the part; pressurizing the mold cavity or extruder to produce a preform having a plurality of portions corresponding to the first and one or more additional feedstocks, and debinding the preform. Micro voids and interstitial paths from the interior of the preform part to the exterior allow the escape of decomposing or subliming backbone component substantially without creating macro voids due to internal pressure. The large brown preform may then be sintered and subsequently thermomechanically processed to produce a net wrought microstructure and properties that are substantially free the interstitial spaces.
