An electronic device may include a lenticular display. The lenticular display may have a lenticular lens film formed over an array of pixels. The lenticular lenses may be configured to enable stereoscopic viewing of the display such that a viewer perceives three-dimensional images. Display pipeline circuitry for the lenticular display may implement crosstalk correction. Crosstalk correction may be performed before pixel mapping using stored crosstalk calibration profiles, crosstalk correction may be performed by ray tracing multiple beams per pixel, and/or crosstalk correction may be performed after pixel mapping using a kernel lookup table.

Crosstalk correction in displays

A display may include an array of pixels covered by lenticular lenses. The lenticular lenses may cause expansion of light primarily in a horizontal direction. To improve the perceived resolution of the display, the horizontal resolution of the pixels on the display may be increased. In one possible layout, each pixel includes one red sub-pixel, one blue sub-pixel, and one green sub-pixel. The sub-pixels may be non-square rectangular. The sub-pixels may be the same size or may have the same widths and different heights. Each pixel may be asymmetric about a horizontal axis. In a given row, the pixels may alternate between first and second layouts. The second layout may be a vertically flipped version of the first layout.

Pixel arrangements for displays with lenticular lenses

A lenticular display may be formed with convex curvature. The lenticular display may have a lenticular lens film with lenticular lenses that extend across the length of the display. The lenticular lenses may be configured to enable stereoscopic viewing of the display. To enable more curvature in the display while ensuring satisfactory stereoscopic display performance, the display may have stereoscopic zones and non-stereoscopic zones. A central stereoscopic zone may be interposed between first and second non-stereoscopic zones. The non-stereoscopic zones may have more curvature than the stereoscopic zone. To prevent crosstalk within the lenticular display, a louver film may be incorporated into the display. The pixel array may have a diagonal layout and may be covered by vertically oriented lenticular lenses.

Pixel arrangements for electronic device displays

An electronic device may include a lenticular display. The lenticular display may have a lenticular lens film formed over an array of pixels. A plurality of lenticular lenses may extend across the length of the display. The lenticular lenses may be configured to enable stereoscopic viewing of the display such that a viewer perceives three-dimensional images. Crosstalk between viewing zones and disparity between images received from different viewing zones may result in disparity-caused shifts in images perceived by viewer of the lenticular display. To mitigate these disparity-caused shifts, compensation circuitry may be included in the display pipeline circuitry. The compensation circuitry may include stored disparity-caused shift calibration information that is used for the compensation. The stored disparity-caused shift calibration information may be a polynomial function that outputs a magnitude of disparity-caused shift for a given pixel location.

An electronic device may include a lenticular display. The lenticular display may have a lenticular lens film formed over an array of pixels. The display may include ray tracing circuitry that is configured to, using ray tracing, a three-dimensional image, and deflection measurements for the array of pixels, output a display calibration map that includes, for each pixel in the array of pixels, a corresponding location on a two-dimensional image. The display may also include pixel mapping circuitry configured to, using the display calibration map from the ray tracing circuitry, map the two-dimensional image to respective pixels on the array of pixels to obtain pixel data for the array of pixels.

Ray tracing in a display

An electronic device may include a lenticular display. The lenticular display may have a lenticular lens film formed over an array of pixels. The lenticular lenses may be configured to enable stereoscopic viewing of the display such that a viewer perceives three-dimensional images. To mitigate jaggedness in a curved edge of the active area, control circuitry may modify input pixel data for the display using dimming factors. Each brightness value of the pixel data may be multiplied by a corresponding dimming factor such that the curved edge has a smooth appearance. Each physical pixel in the display may have an associated perceived pixel that is based on an appearance of that physical pixel through the lenticular lens film. The perceived pixel may have a different footprint than its corresponding physical pixel. The dimming factors for boundary smoothing in the curved edges may be based on the perceived pixels.

Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to methods of cleaning a structure and methods of depositing a capping layer in a structure. The method of cleaning a structure includes suppling a cleaning gas, including a first gas including nitrogen (N) and a second gas including fluorine (F), to a bottom surface of a structure. The cleaning gas removes unwanted metal oxide and etch residue from the bottom surface of the structure. The method of depositing a capping layer includes depositing the capping layer over the bottom surface of the structure. The methods described herein reduce the amount of unwanted metal oxides and residue, which improves adhesion of deposited capping layers.

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods to control brightness or color in foldable displays. An electronic device may include a foldable electronic display and processing circuitry. The foldable electronic display may have a first part and a second part that are foldable at a folding angle with respect to one another. The processing circuitry may provide image data to the foldable electronic display that varies based at least in part on the folding angle.

Methods for color or luminance compensation based on view location in foldable displays

Methods for pre-cleaning substrates having metal and dielectric surfaces are described. The substrate is exposed to a strong reductant to remove contaminants from the metal surface and damage the dielectric surface. The substrate is then exposed to an oxidation process to repair the damage to the dielectric surface and oxidize the metal surface. The substrate is then exposed to a weak reductant to reduce the metal oxide to a pure metal surface without substantially affecting the dielectric surface. Processing tools and computer readable media for practicing the method are also described.

Multi-step pre-clean for selective metal gap fill

To enable a display to display different content to different viewers, a display may include a time-sequential directional backlight unit. The backlight unit may emit light in different directions in different configurations. In a first state, the backlight unit emits light at maximum brightness in a first direction. In a second state, the backlight unit emits light at maximum brightness in a second direction that is different than the first direction. The backlight unit may repeatedly and rapidly switch between the different states. The first direction may be towards a first viewer whereas the second direction may be towards a second, different viewer. Therefore, each viewer receives backlight in one of the configurations and does not receive backlight in the other configuration. In synchronization with the backlight unit, the liquid crystal display panel may repeatedly switch between displaying content for the first viewer and displaying content for the second viewer.

An apparatus includes a plurality of processor cores, a cache memory that includes a plurality of banks, and a power management circuit. The power management circuit is configured to maintain a power credit approach for the apparatus that includes tracking a total number of currently available power credits, and to store a plurality of threshold values. Each threshold value is associated with one or more of a plurality of throttling actions. In response to the total number of currently available power credits reaching a particular threshold value of the plurality of threshold values, the power management circuit performs the one or more throttling actions associated with the particular threshold value. The plurality of throttling actions includes selectively throttling one or more of the plurality of processor cores, and selectively throttling one or more of the plurality of banks in the cache memory.

Implementations of the present disclosure generally relate to the fabrication of integrated circuits, and more particularly, to methods for forming a layer. The layer may be a mask used in lithography process to pattern and form a trench. The mask is formed over a substrate having at least two distinct materials by a selective deposition process. The edges of the mask are disposed on an intermediate layer formed on at least one of the two distinct materials. The method includes removing the intermediate layer to form a gap between edges of the mask and the substrate and filling the gap with a different material than the mask or with the same material as the mask. By filling the gap with the same or different material as the mask, electrical paths are improved.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for forming and patterning features in a film stack disposed on a substrate. In one embodiment, a method for patterning a conductive layer on a substrate includes supplying a gas mixture comprising a chlorine containing gas at a first flow rate to etch a first conductive layer disposed on the substrate, lowing the chlorine containing gas in the first gas mixture to a second flow rate lower than the first flow rate to continue etching the first conductive layer, and increasing the chlorine containing gas in the first gas mixture to a third flow rate greater than the second flow rate to remove the first conductive layer from the substrate.
