Surface coverings, such as floor coverings, with an interlocking design are described. Methods of making the surface coverings are further described. A plank including a resilient composite sheet having four sides, an upper surface, a lower surface, and an overall thickness, and said composite sheet including at least one base layer, wherein said at least one base layer including at least one polymeric material and at least one filler, wherein opposite sides of the composite sheet include a first tongue on a first side and a first groove on the opposite second side, wherein the first tongue and first groove have complementary shape to each other to be interlockingly engageable with a corresponding groove or tongue on an adjacent floor plank.

Surface coverings, such as floor coverings, with an interlocking design are described. Methods of making the surface coverings are further described. A surface covering is provided. The surface covering includes a laminated panel and an ultra-violet (UV) curable surface coating applied to the laminated panel. The ultra-violet (UV) curable surface coating includes a first coating, a second coating, abrasive resistant particles, and an antimicrobial additive. The second coating is a composition distinctive of the first coating, the first coating is cured at a lower energy than the second coating, the second coating is cured at a higher energy to cure both the first coating and the second coating. The abrasive resistant particles include silicon carbide (SiC) particles wherein at least 50% of the silicon carbide (SiC) particles have a particle size of less than 45 μu. The antimicrobial additive selected from a group consisting of N-butyl-1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, alkyl dimethyl ammonium saccharinates, Zinc 2-pyridinethiol-1-oxide,10,10′-Oxybisphenoxarsine (OBPA), 4,5-Dichloro-2-octyl-4isothiazolin-3-one (DCOIT) and mixtures thereof.

A surface covering is provided. The surface covering includes a laminated panel having top layer and an ultra-violet (UV) curable surface coating applied to the laminated panel. The ultra-violet (UV) curable surface coating has a composition with an oligomer, a monomer, a photoinitiator, abrasive resistant particles, and an antimicrobial additive.

A surface covering is provided and includes an upper section of laminated polymeric layers and an acoustical section for dissipating sound waves.

A thermoplastic laminate plank is described wherein the thermoplastic laminate plank includes a core, a print layer, and optionally an overlay. The core includes at least one thermoplastic material and has a top surface and bottom surface wherein a print layer is affixed to the top surface of the core and an overlay layer is affixed to the top surface of the print layer. An underlay layer can be located and affixed between the bottom surface of the print layer and the top surface of the core. In addition, a method of making the thermoplastic laminate plank is further described which involves extruding at least one thermoplastic material into the shape of the core and affixing a laminate on the core, wherein the laminate comprises an overlay affixed to the top surface of the print layer and optionally an underlay layer affixed to the bottom surface of the print layer.

Thermoplastic planks and methods for making the same

Methods and systems for decorating at least one bevel surface or other surface of a laminated flooring are described. The bevel surface can be decorated by non-transfer printing such as digital printing. The digital printer can be an ink jet printer such as a piezoelectric drop-on-demand (DOD) printer that allows a color and pattern to be placed on the bevel surface that matches the print design (d&#xe9;cor pattern or face design) of the laminated flooring. Other devices are provided such as a device that takes a picture of or scans an image of the print design, and modifies the taken picture or the scanned image so that the edge pattern thereof matches with an edge pattern of the print design.
