In the case of a method for frequency support in operation of a power station system, the spontaneous power increase is carried out by supplying an additional medium (19) to the operating process of this power station system. This medium (19) is composed of a basic material (17) to which an amount of energy (18) required for its chemical and/or physical reaction is added. The medium (19) which is provided for the operating process is stored under pressure (26) in a container (20) and is available spontaneously at any time for its use.

Method for spontaneously increasing power in operation of a power

In a method of operating a power station plant, which essentially comprises a gas-turbine group, a waste-heat steam generator and a steam cycle, at least one portion of the steam (15, 29, 44) generated indirectly or directly in the waste-heat steam generator (14) is used for cooling thermally loaded structures of the gas-turbine group, this steam being at a varying preparation stage: the superheated steam (15) cools the structures (21, 25) on the high-pressure side, and the intermediate-pressure steam (29) and the flash steam (44) cool the structures (32, 36, 46) of the gas-turbine group which are on the low-pressure side. After cooling is effected, the respective cooling-steam quantity (22, 26; 33, 37) is directed into a working-air flow (3, 6; 8, 11) of the gas-turbine process.

Method of operating a power station plant with steam cooling

In a method of operating a combined-cycle plant, which essentially comprises a gas-turbine group, a waste-heat steam generator (14) and a steam cycle equipped with a steam turbine (17), the gas-turbine group being operated according to sequential combustion (4, 9), at least one steam quantity (50) proportioned by a control (C) is extracted at a suitable point in terms of pressure in order to increase the operational output of the steam turbine (17). This steam quantity (50) is then fed to the gas-turbine group at a suitable point in such a way that, to maintain the output thus induced, at least the metering (D, E) of a fuel quantity (5, 10) at at least one combustion chamber (4, 9) is influenced.

Method of operating a combined-cycle plant

In a method for increasing the compressor-related pressure drop of the gas turbine (8) of a gas turbine group with a waste-heat steam generator (13) connected downstream, an injector (5), through the mixing nozzle of which the precompressed air (4) from the compressor (2) flows, acts directly upstream of the gas turbine (8). At least part of the steam (10) produced in the waste-heat steam generator (13) is admitted to the driving nozzle of the injector (5), as a result of which the compressor air (4) is further compressed without consumption of power from the yield of the gas turbine (8).

Method for increasing the compressor-related pressure drop of the gas

In a power station installation which is designed as a combined installation, i.e. consists of a gas turbine group (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8) and of a steam cycle (13, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20) downstream of the gas turbine group, the steam rate being generated in a waste heat boiler (13) by heat exchange with the exit gases from the gas turbine (5), a heat exchanger (7), which is a component of a closed cycle, with a high-temperature reactor (12) as the heat source is placed downstream of the last compressor (4) of the gas turbine group and upstream of the combustion chamber (8). In this heat exchanger (7), the compressed air undergoes vigorous caloric processing before it flows into the downstream combustion chamber (8) in which the final caloric processing of the hot gases for charging the gas turbine (5) is accomplished. The essential point here is that the pollutant emissions of any type, in particular CO.sub.2, are effectively minimized by the extensive substitution by the heat provided via the high-temperature reactor.

Power station installation

In a gas/steam power station plant (combined plant) the gas turbine group (1, 2, 3), the steam circuit (8, 9) and the waste heat boiler (4), individually of in combination with one another, are connected, directly or indirectly, operationally to a steam accumulator (12). This operational connection is one wherein a proportion of steam from the constantly charged-up steam accumulator (12) is available for an autonomous start-up of at least one steam turbine (8, 9), coupled to the gas turbine group, of the steam circuit, whereby the start capability of the combined plant can be increased.

Combined gas/steam turbine power station plant

The gas turbine of an air storage gas turbine power station is so designed that it can provide the nominal output requirement without extracting air from the storage cavern (17). The compressor group (3+4) has internal control organs in the form of guide vanes and possibly also rotor blading which can be adjusted during operation. This adjustable blading makes it possible to maintain the pressure ratio necessary for attaining the nominal power during the other operating conditions also and makes it possible to keep the compressor final pressure at at least the same level as the storage air pressure. By this means, it is possible to fill the storage cavern (17) during the whole of the part-load range and during idling operation in addition to filling it by exclusively electric motor drive of the compressor group (3+4) by the generator (2 or 31), connected as motor, or by an electric motor (29) specially provided for this purpose. So that the rigid coupling between the compressor group (3+4) and the running turbine (1 or 30) can be made or broken, a rotational speed synchronizing device is provided between the line of driving shafts (5+6) of the turbine, preferably in the form of a hydrodynamic torque converter (7 or 33) which can be locked or of an electromagnetic induction coupling. The turbine (1; 30) preferably has adjustable guide vanes or partial admission in the first stage.

The compressor of the coal-fired air storage gas turbine power station is connected by a main air duct to a fluidized bed combustion chamber and an air storage cavern. There is one clutch in each case respectively between the compressor and the electrical machine and between the latter and the turbine. In order to maintain the fluidized bed firing even in the case of pure pumping operations, a low load air duct with a shut-off unit is provided, the low load air duct connecting a pressure stage of the compressor to the main air duct at a position before the fluidized bed combustion chamber. During pumping operations, the fluidized bed continues to be fired at low load by closing a throttle unit in the section of the main air duct leading to the fluidized bed combustion chamber with simultaneously open shutoff units respectively in the section of the main air duct leading to the air storage cavern and in the low load air duct. The combustion gases generated in the fluidized bed combustion chamber drive the turbine which, by means of the clutch designed as an overrunning clutch, supports the electrical machine, operating as a motor, in driving the compressor.

The present invention relates to gas turbine systems for generating high-temperature process heat. To simplify the primary circuit and to eliminate the necessity of using the same circulation means for the primary and drive circuits in gas turbine systems, a system of this type is designed so that the medium heated in the secondary part of a heat exchanger is divided into a portion of drive gas for operating the drive circuit and a portion of process gas for the actual generation of process heat in the secondary circuit. After the process heat has been given off in a process-heat consumer part, the process gas is then expanded in an expansion turbine and thereafter recycled to the drive circuit. Thereupon, the combined drive gas and process gas, which is compressed in at least one compressor located in the drive circuit, is preheated in a recuperator. The expansion turbine drives, in addition to at least one process-gas compressor, a generator, the electrical energy of the generator being used to operate a recycle blower in the primary circuit.

Gas turbine system for generating high-temperature process heat

A gas turbine power plant has a gas turbine including both high-pressure and low-pressure turbine sections and a compressor including both high-pressure and low-pressure compressor sections. One gas turbine section and one compressor section are arranged on each of a pair of twin-shafts with a closed circulation system flowing through the compressor and gas turbine sections. A nuclear reactor supplies heat to a working gas of the circulation system. Various by-passes for the working gas are provided which are controlled in response to operating conditions. In this way, the pressure of the working gas within the nuclear reactor and between the low and high pressure gas turbine sections is maintained substantially constant.

Gas turbine power plant

A method of, and apparatus for, regulating a power plant containing a gas turbine assembly operated in an open cycle which essentially comprises a compressor for the combustion air, a combustion chamber and a gas turbine. A heat exchanger is arranged following the turbine exhaust and in the heat exchanger there is utilized the thermal energy still contained in the exhaust gases of the gas turbine. In order to regulate the output of the gas turbine, a variable quantity of compressed air is returned into the flow path of the combustion air to a stage operating at a lower pressure.

Method for regulating a power plant containing a gas turbine assembly

An arrangement for controlling the power output of a closed cycle type of thermodynamic system including shaft-coupled compressor and gas turbine components driving a load such as an electrical generator in which the gaseous working medium flows in a closed circulation system that includes a device for imparting heat to the gas and a storage tank for the gas connected in parallel with a section of the gas circulation system. In order to vary the power output, gas from the circulation system in a cold or hot state, respectively, is flowed through the tank for heat exchange with the gas in the tank such that as a result of the corresponding change produced in the density of the gas within the tank, gas is selectively withdrawn from or delivered into the circulation system.
