A dosing unit for use in an ambulatory infusion system, the dosing unit including: a dosing cylinder and a piston arranged inside the dosing cylinder and in a sliding displaceable manner along a displacement axis. The piston is convertible from a storing configuration into an operational configuration, wherein a circumferential sealing member of the piston is mechanically relieved in the storing configuration and is in sealing and sliding engagement with a circumferential inner surface of the dosing cylinder in the operational configuration. The dosing unit includes a configuration switch member in operative mechanical coupling with the piston, the configuration switch member being movable relative to the piston from a storing position into an operational position, thereby switching the piston configuration from the storing configuration to the operational configuration.

Dosing unit for use in ambulatory infusion systems

A valve clutch that has a central member extending along a central axis and includes a drive coupler that receives a driving torque. A coupling member is provided that includes coupling pins extending parallel to the central axis. A valve is rotatably disposed around the central axis between inlet and outlet positions. A sleeve is configured to rotationally engage the valve, the sleeve including at least one clamping member. The valve clutch is reversibly changeable between (1) an unengaged configuration wherein a driving torque received by the central member is not transmitted to the sleeve member, and (2) an engaged configuration wherein the at least one coupling pin is clamped between the central member and the at least one clamping member, thereby transmitting the driving torque that is received by the central member via the sleeve member to the valve member.

Valve clutch device and dosing unit with a valve clutch device

A dosing unit for an infusion pump device is disclosed having a piston pump with a pump cylinder and a plunger arranged within said cylinder, coaxially arranged along a longitudinal axis. The plunger has a shaft with a thread and the cylinder has a threaded sleeve part with a thread. The two threads engaging with each other in such a way that a rotational movement of the plunger around the longitudinal axis results in an additional linear displacement of the plunger along said longitudinal axis. A separate bias force element biases the two threads in regard to each other along the longitudinal axis, such that the threaded engagement of inner thread and outer thread is free of play independent of a direction of a rotational movement and linear displacement of the plunger in regard to the cylinder.

Dosing unit for an ambulatory infusion device

Methods and devices for micro-dosing a liquid are disclosed herein. According to one embodiment, a method for a time controlled micro-dosing of a liquid from a liquid reservoir includes: receiving the liquid reservoir with a structure wherein the structure is portable; securing the liquid reservoir to the structure; connecting a second end of a drive unit to a piston disposed within the liquid reservoir; activating a drive motor; displacing the drive unit with respect to the structure towards the piston in an axial direction with the drive motor; moving the piston axially within the liquid reservoir; and micro-dosing the liquid from the liquid reservoir.

Device for preventing a free catheter flow

A delivery device and a method for administering a fluid from a fluid reservoir, wherein an unintended free flow of the fluid from the reservoir to a recipient is reliably prevented, are disclosed. The delivery device has a tank for the fluid; a fluid delivery device which delivers the fluid from the tank; a valve body providing an input hole and an output hole; and an infusion set in order to guide the fluid from the tank to a distal end of the delivery device. The delivery device further provides a shutter assembly which is or can be mounted to the valve body and prevents the fluid from flowing inside the infusion set when the fluid exhibits a pressure which is lower than a predefined pressure.
