A method of controlling an elevator door dwell time includes obtaining a predefined load weight value; obtaining a load weight value from a load weight sensor coupled to an elevator car; comparing the load weight value to the predefined load weight value to generate a difference; and adjusting the elevator door dwell time in response to the difference to define an adjusted elevator door dwell time.

Adaptive elevator door dwell time

A method of updating a stall threshold level of an elevator door to control a door stall occurring during opening or closing of the elevator door includes determining an exceptional motion count of a door based on at least one of a speed and an acceleration of the door, determining whether the door is stalled, based on a determined exceptional motion count of the door and a preset stall threshold level of the door, and re-determining the stall threshold level of the door according to the determination of whether the door is stalled.

Method and apparatus for stall control of elevator door

An elevator door stopping device which can prevent that elevator door is closed by itself when power supplied to a motor for opening and closing the elevator door is interrupted, an improvement of the elevator door stopping device characterized in that a first magnetic body is fixed on a shaft rotating in interlock with opening and closing of the elevator door so as to generate a magnetic force in a radial direction perpendicular to the shaft, and a second magnetic body is fixed on a fixed face spaced apart from the first magnetic body at a predetermined interval in the radial direction in such a manner that the second magnetic body has the opposite pole to the first magnetic body, so that a magnetic force is generated between the first magnetic body and the second magnetic body in the radial direction perpendicular to the shaft.

Elevator door stopping device

A device for inhibiting the closing of a door that controls entry of an enclosure includes a first magnet disposed on a driven portion of the device and a second magnet disposed on a fixed portion of the enclosure. The first magnet and the second magnet are configured to be in register with each other as the door moves toward a closed position such that if the first magnet and the second magnet are in register with each other, a pole of the first magnet is in close proximity of a pole of the second magnet such that the first magnet and the second magnet react to each other to inhibit motion of the door towards the closed position.

Braking device for a door operator

A separation distance is maintained between a leading elevator car () and a trailing elevator car () traveling in the same direction in an elevator hoistway (). A shortest stopping distance (d) of the leading elevator car () and a normal stopping distance (d) of the trailing elevator car () are determined. The separation distance (d) is controlled such that a difference between the normal stopping distance (d) of the trailing elevator car () and the shortest stopping distance (d) of the leading elevator car () is greater than or equal to a threshold distance (d).

Multiple car hoistway including car separation control

The movement of a plurality of elevator cars () in an elevator hoistway () is coordinated for situations in which the regions of the hoistway that are serviceable by the cars () at any given time are configured to overlap. A car stop plan for each elevator car () is generated that includes a sequence of stops for servicing demand assigned to the elevator car (). Operation of the elevator cars () is then coordinated based on the car stop plans such that each elevator car () services its assigned demand without interfering with the car stop plans of any other of the plurality of elevator cars ().

Coordination of multiple elevator cars in a hoistway

Controlling the movement of elevator cars () within a single hoistway () prevents the cars from becoming too close while servicing assigned stops. Example control techniques include controlling door operation of at least one of the elevator cars () to effectively slow down a follower car or speed up a leader car for increasing a distance between the cars in an area within the hoistway () where the cars would otherwise be too close to each other.

Method and system for maintaining distance between elevator cars in an elevator system with multiple cars in a single hoistway

Destination calls entered by means of buttons (-) are each given a designation unique to the car and pick-up floor for that call and other calls to be serviced therewith, such as a letter (A-E), which is different from any other outstanding calls. Calls can be reassigned among elevators (UL, LL, UR, LR) whether they are in the same or different hoistways (LF, RT). Signs (--) adjacent each hoistway are illuminated to display the designation of any call which is being answered by an elevator car approaching the floor. Thus, passengers are informed when their call is being answered by the signs identifying the call, rather than identifying any particular car. Another embodiment identifies () the hoistway landing doorway () as well as a letter to allow passengers to wait adjacent to the hoistway landing doorway of the car which will serve them.

Call indicator provided near elevator car currently assigned to the call

A method of assigning destination calls to cars (A-F) in an elevator system () having a plurality of hoistways (-) in which there is more than one car in each hoistway includes determining () the time for each car to respond to the call Among the cars with an acceptable response time, a determination is made regarding () the amount of additional delay in the hoistway that assignment of the call to one car will impose on the either car in the same hoistway. The call is assigned to that car which creates the least additional delay for cars in any hoistway.

Calls assigned to one of two cars in a hoistway to minimize delay imposed on either car

One of a plurality of cars () traveling in a hoistway () of an elevator system () may be diverted to the hoistway overhead () or pit () to enable another of the cars to gain access to a floor near or at a terminal floor (). When such car is at its last stop with doors open, visual () and audible () indicators present () messages to the effect that this is the last stop and passengers should exit. After car doors are closed (), visual and audible messages () relate to the car going to the pit or overhead and that passengers may push any button (to reopen doors). Thereafter, the car moves () to the overhead () or the pit () and presents () visual and audible messages to the effect that passengers did not exit at the correct floor and must wait while the other car makes a stop. Once the terminal floor is clear, the diverted car will run (-) to that floor, presenting () visual and audible messages to the effect that passengers should exit once the doors are open and reenter their service requests.
