Sample pipettes used in particular for injecting samples into high pressure liquid chromatography apparatuses, which are provided with a hollow needle for drawing a sample and expelling same into a container or into a sample receiving device of the apparatus. An interchangeable cannula is mounted on the hollow needle of such a pipette, said cannula being capable of containing additional functional elements such as filters, chemically active phases and the like.

Sample pipette

The valve arrangement comprises a predetermined number of individual valve functionalities, arranged in a manner parallel to each other. A fixed connector plate () has a number of sample funnel tubes () and output connections () for forward transfer of the samples arranged offset from the above. A valve plate () with the same number of sample loops () for accommodating precisely measured sample amounts may be displaced linearly with respect to the connector plate. In a first position the sample loops are connected to the sample funnel tubes and in a second position with the output connections.

Valve arrangement

The sample injection valve for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) devices comprises a stator with inlets for the sample and the mobile phase, outlets leading to the chromatography column and to a waste collector, as well as connections for both ends of a sample loop. Its rotor has the customary connection channels. An additional washing liquid inlet () opens into the connecting channel () that, in one valve position, connects the sample inlet () to the outlet () leading to the waste collector. This enables the sample inlet and the pipette or syringe located therein to be rinsed.
