An incinerator is disclosed which includes apparatus for removing ash from an incinerating chamber and which comprises hydraulically operated plows that slide along the floor of the chamber to push the ash towards an ash trough. Ash removal efficiency is improved in accordance with the present invention by the hinged suspension of a brush from the plow face. An auxiliary plow is added to the waste material loading device to clear ash from the highest of several stepped floor levels even in the absence of no new load being entered. The auxiliary plow further includes a clevis assembly which pivots the brush away from the incinerator floor during reverse plow travel.

Incinerator ash removal systems

A frequency modulated fluidic gauge having no moving parts for monitoring a characteristic of a continuously moving strand-like material. The gauge is comprised of a fluidic oscillator circuit including a fluidic amplifier, and a fluidic phase shifting network for fluidically coupling an output fluidic signal from an amplifier output port to an amplifier control input port at a phase angle that insures oscillation of an output signal from the amplifier output port at a predetermined frequency which is proportional to the characteristic of the material being monitored. The phase shifting network is comprised of a fluidic capacitor, an enclosed gauging channel for receiving the strand-like material passing therethrough, means for fluidically coupling the output signal from the amplifier output port to the gauging channel, and means for fluidically coupling at least a portion of the output signal to the fluidic capacitor and the amplifier control port. A part of the gauging channel, which receives that portion of the output signal passing between the walls of the gauging channel and the continuously moving strand-like material, defines a variable fluidic resistor, whereby the frequency of the oscillator output signal varies inversely as the product of the variable resistor and the fluidic capacitor.

Frequency modulated fluidic gauge

A fluidic governor system for controlling the speed of a drive shaft output of a prime mover, comprising a fluidic governor, a reciprocating or vane compressor, a fluidic RC filter, and a valve. The compressor is mechanically coupled to and driven by the drive shaft output of the prime mover, and generates both pneumatic power and a pulsating fluidic signal which has a frequency proportional to the rotation of the drive shaft output of the prime mover. The fluidic RC filter blocks the passage of the pulsating fluidic signal and converts the power output to a steady pneumatic power supply which powers the fluidic governor, while the pulsating fluidic signal is acoustically sensed by the governor. A speed error signal whose magnitude is proportional to the error in the frequency of the pulsating fluidic signal, is generated from a control output port of the fluidic governor for regulating the energy supply to the prime mover by means of the valve to correct the speed of the drive shaft output of the prime mover.
