The invention discloses a hard-rolling roller head with two separate housings for deep rolling the outside radii of adjoining crankpins of a split-pin crankshaft. The hard-rolling roller head provides an effective support of the two housings against one another, when machining split-pin crankshafts, and simultaneously prevents the upper areas of these housings from drifting apart.

The invention relates to a hard-rolling roller for a deep rolling tool having a torus-shaped base body for deep rolling of radiuses or recesses which limit the bearing trunnion on crankshafts on both sides, and two at least approximately truncated cone-shaped central bodies, rising on both sides of the body. A cylindrical body rises on the upper end surface of one of the two central bodies.

Hard-rolling roller

A deep rolling roller head includes two housings for the deep rolling of the outer radii or fillets of split-pin crankshaft journals by means of two deep rolling rollers which are pressed into one of the two fillets under a rolling force while the crankshaft rotates around its axis of rotation. The two housings follow at the same time the different movements of the journals and support each other with their insides across from each other on a bearing plate. The insides of the housings bear on either side of the axis of rotation of the crankshaft and at a distance from it on an extension segment extending in the direction of the rolling force to below a contact point between the deep rolling rollers and the fillets to be deep-rolled. The bearing plate connected permanently to the inside and the extensions of one of the two housings.

The support roll head ( ) also has an axial guide roll which is disposed in front of the support rolls in the pivoting direction ( ) for closure and whose axis of rotation is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the crankshaft ( ) and lies in a plane which forms an acute angle with the common plane of the axis of rotation of the support rolls, its diameter being larger than the width of the support roll head ( ) and slightly smaller than the spacing of the adjacent oil collars of a main bearing pin or a connecting rod bearing pin.
