A mold closing device of an injection molding machine for producing plastic parts made of two or more plastic components includes a central mold carrier element which is arranged between two outer mold mounting plates and has two or four opposing mold mounting areas arranged in pairs for affixing two or four mold halves and which is fitted with a turning device supported in a supporting frame. Each of the mold halves of the mold carrier element can be closed against the mold halves of the outer mold mounting plates by a drive mechanism and a mold pressure unit. The outer mold mounting plates are interconnected by columns which extend through the supporting frame for the central mold carrier element. The supporting frame is fixedly connected to the machine frame while the outer mold mounting plate is displaceably supported on the machine frame.

An injection molding device includes a continuously operating extruder and a discontinuously operating injection unit receiving plastic material from the extruder. The extruder has an extruder barrel which includes a plasticizing zone and a discharge zone, whereby the discharge zone is configured to provide an intermediate storage space and has a cross sectional area which is greater than a cross sectional area of the plasticizing zone. In this way, the discharge zone provides a buffer volume which is filled during the injection process and then emptied again.

Apparatus for producing thermoplastic injection-molded parts reinforced with long fibers, includes a compounder having two meshing screws rotating in a same direction for continuously generating a stream of melt of thermoplastic material reinforced with long fibers. Melt is alternatingly conducted to at least two piston and cylinder units for injection into at least one cavity of an injection mold at a suitable pressure. Each of the piston and cylinder units includes a cylinder and a differential piston movably received in the cylinder and dividing the cylinder into a feed chamber and an injection chamber, wherein the piston has a relatively greater piston surface, adjacent the injection chamber, and a relatively smaller piston surface, adjacent the feed chamber. The differential piston has a passageway for interconnecting the greater piston surface and the smaller piston surface to permit a flow of melt from the feed chamber into the injection chamber, whereby a flow of melt from the injection chamber back to the feed chamber is inhibited by a non-return valve disposed in the passageway of the differential piston.
