The invention refers to a patch cable for connecting a respiratory module () to a breathing adapter () being, e.g., part of a capnography system. The patch cable () comprises a) a module connector (), b) an adapter connector () comprising a light detector, c) a light guide, and d) an electric cable for directing an electric detection signal generated by the light detector from the adapter connector to the module connector. The adapter connector is configured such that an end of the light guide is positioned to provide the light into a gas cavity of the breathing adapter. The adapter connector is adapted such that the light detector detects light provided by the end of the light guide that has interacted with the gas provided in the gas cavity, when the adapter connector is connected to the breathing adapter. This, allows to improve the accuracy of respiratory gas detection.

The invention provides a method for obtaining a filtered capnography signal by suppressing a spectral background signal within an optical absorption signal. An optical absorption signal is obtained from a subject across a range of wavelengths, wherein the optical absorption signal represents a proportion of a light signal that is absorbed as the light signal passes through a respiratory air sample undergoing investigation, and wherein the optical absorption signal comprises a spectral background signal. A second harmonic signal is isolated from the optical absorption signal and the period of the spectral background signal is identified. The second harmonic signal is sampled at a central wavelength of the second harmonic signal, wherein the central wavelength represents a maximum Carbon Dioxide absorption, an at an off-center wavelength of the second harmonic signal, wherein the off-center wavelength and the central wavelength are separated by a multiple of the period of the spectral background signal. A filtered capnography signal is then generated based on the sampled second harmonic signal.

The present invention relates to a method for optically determining the concentration of a gas. The method includes using at least two luminescent dyes, the first being in-sensitive to the concentration of a gas with respect to the luminescence response (reference dye) and the second being sensitive to the concentration of a gas with respect to the luminescence response (indicator dye) the dyes show different luminescence decay times so that the resultant phase angle is indicative for the concentration of a gas, wherein the detected luminescent amplitude of the reference dye at a first moment in time is utilized to correct for sensitivity changes after the first moment.

Cavity-enhanced photo acoustic trace gas detector with improved feedback loop

An oscillator element is provided, e.g., for use in a photo acoustic detector for detecting a concentration of a sample in a sample mixture using a light beam for excitation of molecules of the sample in proximity of an excitation area of the oscillator element.
