A hydrodynamic torque converter includes a converter housing and a turbine wheel which is arranged in the converter housing and is rotatable with respect to the converter housing about a rotational axis of the converter The torque converter further includes a lockup clutch for producing a torque transmission connection between the converter housing and the turbine wheel. The lockup clutch has a first friction surface arrangement held by a first friction surface carrier arrangement substantially fixed with respect to rotation relative to the converter housing, a second friction surface arrangement is held by a second friction surface carrier arrangement substantially fixed with respect to rotation relative to the turbine wheel, a contact pressing arrangement for pressing the first and the second friction surface arrangement against one another in fictional contact, and an abutment arrangement at which the first and second friction surface arrangement can be supported substantially in the direction of the aixis of rotation when pressed by the contact pressure arrangement. The first friction surface carrier arrangement has a substantially annular body region connected either directly or indirectly with the converter housing and driver projections which are arranged at a distance from one another in the circumferential direction proceeding from the body region. Respective counter-driver projections at the first friction surface arrangement engage between these driver projections.

Hydrodynamic torque converter

A hydrodynamic torque converter includes a converter housing and a turbine wheel which is arranged in the converter housing and is rotatable with respect to the converter housing about a rotational axis of the converter. The torque converter further includes a lockup clutch for producing a torque transmission connection between the converter housing and the turbine wheel. The lockup clutch has a first friction surface arrangement held by a first friction surface carrier arrangement substantially fixed with respect to rotation relative to the converter housing, a second friction surface arrangement is held by a second friction surface carrier arrangement substantially fixed with respect to rotation relative to the turbine wheel, a contact pressing arrangement for pressing the first and the second friction surface arrangement against one another in frictional contact, and an abutment arrangement at which the first and second friction surface arrangement can be supported substantially in the direction of the axis of rotation when pressed by the contact pressure arrangement. The first friction surface carrier arrangement has a substantially annular body region connected either directly or indirectly with the converter housing and driver projections which are arranged at a distance from one another in the circumferential direction proceeding from the body region. Respective counter-driver projections at the first friction surface arrangement engage between these driver projections.

A stator wheel for a hydrodynamic torque converter comprises a stator wheel hub arrangement and a plurality of stator wheel blades arranged successively in the circumferential direction of the stator wheel hub arrangement. Each stator wheel blade has a radial inner flow-around profile area and a radial outer flow-around profile area such that a flow-around profile in the radial outer flow-around profile area differs from a flow-around profile in the radial inner flow-around profile area. A first cover ring surrounds the stator wheel hub arrangement and is connected with the stator wheel blades is arranged in radial transition area between the radial inner flow-around profile area and the radial outer flow-around profile area

A turbine wheel arrangement for a hydrodynamic torque converter comprises an outer shell connected with a turbine wheel hub for common rotation and a plurality of blades arranged successively along the circumferential direction at the outer shell. A side of the blades remote from the outer shell is connected to an inner shell so that fluid flow channels are formed between adjacent ones of the blades together with the outer shell and the inner shell. At least one of the blades has an outer blade area lying closer to the outer shell that has a blade contour adapted to a first operating state, especially a starting operation, of a torque converter and an inner blade area lying closer to the inner shell that has a blade contour adapted to a second operating state, especially a driving state, of the torque converter.

A pump impeller for a hydrodynamic torque converter with a flange and a hub located radially inside and extending in the axial direction. The hub has a seat for a bearing and a sleeve is connected by a pressure fit to the pump impeller. The sleeve extends in the direction of the hub and forms the seat of the bearing.

Hydrodynamic torque converter which comprises blade wheels in the form of a reactor, a pump wheel and a turbine wheel with individual blades which are connected to an outer wall, whereby a torque can be transmitted from the pump wheel to the turbine wheel by means of pressure medium which flows along a flow path from the pump wheel to the turbine wheel, and is transported via the reactor back to the pump wheel, whereby at least one blade wheel comprises at least one stabilizer ring which creates a connection of the individual blades on their exposed sides, and by means of which stabilizer ring the flow path of the pressure medium can be influenced to reduce the flow losses.

A hydrokinetic torque converter is provided with a lockup clutch which comprises a piston which can be displaced in the axial direction and can be connected with the converter housing by means of at least one friction lining. The piston, on its side facing the converter housing, defines a chamber in which, when the lockup clutch is active, a pressure is applied which is lower than the pressure of the converter circuit. In the vicinity of the friction surface, there is at least one depression for the flow of hydraulic fluid from the converter circuit. The depression empties in the vicinity of the radially inner end of the friction lining into the chamber, and has at least one connection to at least one recess in the piston, whereby the recess is designed to generate a pressure reduction with respect to the pressure in converter circuit, and is designed with a smaller cross section area than the connection or the depression.

Hydrokinetic torque converter with lockup clutch

A hydrodynamic torque converter is designed with a lock-up clutch which comprises a piston which can be extended in the axial direction and can be connected by at least one friction lining to the converter housing. The friction lining is designed with a multiplicity of depressions for the flow of hydraulic fluid, preferably oil, from the converter circuit, whereby the depressions extend between the radially outside edge and the radially inside edge of the friction lining in the circumferential direction at a specified angle, with a changing radial distance from the axis of rotation of the friction lining. Each depression changes its longitudinal direction between each inlet and outlet for the oil at least once, so that its radial component is oriented opposite to its orientation before the change.

Hydrodynamic torque converter with lock-up clutch

A hydrodynamic torque converter consists of a pump wheel driven by an internal combustion engine, a turbine wheel coupled to a drive shaft, and a stator which can be blocked in one direction of rotation. These wheels, together form a converter circuit filled with a hydraulic fluid, preferably oil, which interacts with a lock-up clutch. This lock-up clutch is located axially between the outside of the turbine wheel and the inside opposite it of the converter housing which forms the connection between the pump wheel and the internal combustion engine, and a piston which, like the converter housing, can also be driven preferably with some slip in relation to the corresponding friction lining, can be displaced axially and with the converter housing defines a chamber, which piston can be brought into contact by means of a first friction lining with a plate which is non-rotationally fastened to the turbine wheel, which plate is engaged for its part with its other side by means of a second friction lining with the converter housing. In the area of contact of the converter housing with the second friction lining there are channels for the flow of oil, which can carry the flow of oil on account of the pressure gradient between the turbine wheel and the chamber from radially outward to radially inward, while in the area of contact between the piston and the plate, a flow of oil into the chamber can at least be reduced.
