A core biopsy arrangement for taking a tissue sample from a human or animal tissue, preferably from a tumour or a suspected tumour, includes a needle holder member provided with a tissue sampling needle, a longitudinal movement element adapted to apply a longitudinal movement to the needle, wherein the movement of the needle is a reciprocating movement having a stroke length L, wherein the forward movement is faster than the retracting movement, and wherein the reciprocating movement is initiated when the distal end of the needle is subjected to a force in the longitudinal direction.

Core biopsy arrangement

The present invention relates to an anti-seeding arrangement () for invasive treatment of a human or animal body comprising an elongated hollow member (), and a first electrode () of which one portion is arranged near one end of the elongated hollow member (), said first electrode () being connectable to an electromagnetic field generator (), wherein the elongated hollow member () is arranged to be inserted into the human or animal body, control means () arranged to control the electromagnetic field generator () for delivering radio frequency bursts to the first electrode (), and sensing means () to sense a physical property dependent on the insertion length of the elongated hollow member () in the human or animal body, and wherein the control means () is arranged to control the operation of the electromagnetic field generator () in dependence of the sensed physical property.

Anti-seeding arrangement

Fine needle arrangement for taking a sample of cells from suspicious lesions by using fine needle aspiration (FNA) technique, including a tubular needle member (), a storage compartment () enclosing a chamber, and a coupling () to which a connector may be attached. The chamber is configured with a gradually increasing cross-sectional area from the distal part of the chamber to the proximal part of the chamber, such that the chamber has no residual spaces where cell samples may be trapped, and that an efficient air streaming is achieved.

Fine needle arrangement for cell sampling

An arrangement for taking a sample of cells from a suspicious lesion or a tumor with the so called fine needle aspiration technique, provides a good penetration of tumors, especially small and/or hard fibrous tumors, and in the meantime yielding an increased amount of cells in the sample, by applying a longitudinal movement to the needle when the needle is penetrating the tumor and by applying both a rotational and a longitudinal movement to the needle when the needle is positioned inside the tumor. The arrangement is further provided with heat generating elements in order to apply a short pulse of heat to the needle in order to lower the risk for the tumor to spread.

Arrangement for cell sampling

Device in ultrasonic knives of the kind including a transducer for converting electrical energy at ultrasonic frequency to a mechanical oscillation. An amplitude transformer (2) forms the tip of the knife. The length of the ultrasonic transformer is in the order of magnitude 0.72 times the wavelength of the ultrasonic frequency. The ultrasonic transformer is an integral unit comprising a cylindrical portion (40), an integral portion (41) which is the curve of a wave function of the fourth order Fourier form, and a tip portion (42) which is conical, whereby the maximum stroke of the longitudinal oscillation mode of the knife is a desired resonance frequency, this resonance frequency being greatly separated, in the order of magnitude 20% with relation to the resonance frequency, from resonance frequency pertaining to harmonics of the desired resonance frequency in the longitudinal oscillation mode, and resonance frequency pertaining to oscillations in the transverse mode.

Device in ultrasonic aspirators

A curved ultrasonic knife consisting of a transducer unit (5) and an amplitude-amplifying horn connected directly thereto, the knife being shaped to imbue the tip (43) of the horn with, to a great extent, purely longitudinal oscillation. The transducer unit includes a piezoelectric unit axially clamped in the transducer unit (5). A resonance rod (28) located between the piezoelectric unit and the horn (2) is bent to give a deflection of 16.degree., for example.

Ultrasonic knife

The present invention relates to an equipment for use in surgical operations to remove tissue, and comprises an ultrasonic knife having a tip intended to be brought into contact with the tissue, a transducer unit causing said tip portion to oscillate longitudinally and a frequency generator to drive the transducer unit, the parts of the ultrasonic knife which are in contact with the patient being galvanically isolated from the other equipment of the knife, as well as means for temporarily supplying thermal energy to the tissue from the tip portion of the ultrasonic knife in order to achieve hemostasis by means of coagulation.
