The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for the sensing of objects moved through the field of view of an optical sensor comprising a device for the selection of regions of interest which are each associated only with a part of the field of view of the optical sensor, wherein a distance measurement device and/or a remission measurement device is/are integrated into the optical sensor or is/are connected in front of it or after it in the direction of movement of the objects, with the distance measurement device and/or the remission measurement device being designed for the determination of the spacing and/or of the remission of the object surfaces facing the distance measurement device and/or the remission measurement device and being coupled to an evaluation circuit for the calculating of the regions of interest in dependence on the determined spacings and/or remissions.

Apparatus and method for monitoring moved objects

A laser scanner which operates pursuant to the elapsed time principle and which has a pulsed laser that directs successive light pulses into a monitored region. The laser scanner further has a light receiving arrangement for receiving light pulses reflected by an object in the monitored region and that generates electric received signals which are fed to an evaluation unit for determining a distance between the object and the laser scanner based on the elapsed time between the emission of the light pulse and the receipt of the reflected pulse and the speed of light from which a distance signal is formed that is representative of the distance between the object and the scanner. There is a light diverter unit between the pulsed laser and the monitored region which continuously directs light pulses along different directions into the monitored region. A light source is provided which emits a light measuring signal of reduced strength which is also continuously directed into the monitored region in continuously changing directions. The light receiving arrangement is configured to receive the light measuring signal reflected by the object in the monitored region and to generate a reflection signal that is representative of the reflection characteristics of the object. The light pulses and the receiving signals are changeable in dependency of the reflection signal.

The invention relates to an optoelectronic sensor which has a transmission device for transmitting a strip illumination in the direction of an object zone, a reception device for receiving light reflected or remitted from the object zone and for outputting at least one corresponding reception signal and an evaluation device for evaluating the at least one reception signal. A division of the strip illuminated object region into a plurality of monitoring segments is provided. Furthermore, a distance measuring device is provided by which, for at least one monitoring segment, the distance to an object disposed therein can be determined.

Optoelectronic sensor with adjustable depth of field range

Techniques for determining the distance between a measuring apparatus and an object are provided. The measuring apparatus includes a transmitter, a receiver and a filter module having a defined phase frequency characteristic, in which a modulated signal, in particular a light signal, is transmitted in the direction of the object by the transmitter, the signal reflected by the object is received by the receiver and the output signal of the receiver is delivered to the transmitter at least via the filter module, wherein at least the transmitter, the receiver and the filter module form a resonant circuit, the frequency of resonance of the resonant circuit is measured and the distance is determined from the frequency of resonance. The respective frequency of resonance of the resonant circuit is determined for at least two different phase frequency characteristics.

A method is described for detecting the distance between a measuring device comprising a transmitter and a receiver and an object, in which a modulated light signal is emitted by the transmitter in the direction of the object, the light signal reflected at the object is received by the receiver and is converted into a reflection signal, and the distance between the measuring device and the object is determined from the light transit time of the light signal received. In addition to the light signal reflected at the object, at least a part of the light signal emitted is received as a reference light signal by a receiver without reflection at the object and is converted into a reference signal. Subsequently the phase shift between the reflection signal and the reference signal is determined for the determination of the light transit time. Moreover, a distance measuring device working in accordance with the method of the invention is described.

The invention relates to an optical code reader comprising an optical scanning device (11) having a light transmitter (27) and a photoreceiver arrangement (19), said scanning device (11) transmitting a light beam (12) executing a scanning movement into a reading zone (14) provided at a reading distance ((L) from the scanning device (11). The reading zone preferably has a substantially planar front surface (13) and, moreover, a predetermined depth. Articles (16) carrying an optically detectable article code (15) are moved through the reading zone (14) and an electronic evaluation system (17), which is provided at the output of the scanning device (11), evaluates electrical signals formed by the photoreceiver arrangement (19) from the light reflected from the code (15) to the scanning device (11) and identifies the article code (15). A reflector (18) is arranged behind the reading zone (14) and, in the absence of an article (16) in the reading zone (14), reflects light received from the scanning device (11) in a manner identifiable as coming from the reflector (18) back to the scanning device (11). An article recognition stage (21) is provided in the electronic evaluation system (17), which suppresses the article identification until no further light is received which can be identified as coming from the reflector (18).
