A timing circuit 10 that can be used to control the flow of fluid according to a specific time period that is allotted for each user includes a initialization circuit 30, a reset counter circuit 32, a flow time counter circuit 38, and a clock circuit 40. The timing circuit 10 accepts a DETECT* input signal, that indicates the presence of a user, and provides a DRIVE output signal that indicates when fluid shall be permitted to flow. The flow time counter circuit 38 is user configurable to provide a maximum flow time period while the DETECT* signal is active. The reset counter circuit 32 ensures that each user is provided with his or her maximum flow time period by introducing a system reset time between consecutive users and by allowing a user to remove him or her self from being detected, thus placing the DETECT* signal in an inactive state and subsequently inactivating the DRIVE signal, for certain periods of time without forfeiting any of his or her allotted maximum flow time period. The initialization circuit 30 provides the user with an initial controlled time period of fluid flow, if desired.

Time period configurable fluid flow control circuit

An aftermarket automatic climate control system is disclosed for use in automobiles to be connected to existing heating, including a fan and fan motor to control the volume of air flow, said system including a control head located in the passenger compartment and a power box adapted to be connected with the automobile's electrical, heating and air conditioning systems, wherein said automatic climate control is connected to the fan positive supply lead of the fan motor.

Automatic climate control system

A system for controlling liquid flow in bathrooms and the like in response to the presence of the user, which is configuration-adjustable to permit use in preselected sanitary applications. Light emitting means cooperate with a light sensor to detect light reflected from the user. The filtered and amplified output signal from the sensor is demodulated to provide a DC output signal. First circuit means responsive to the DC output signal actuate fluid flow for a maximum preselected period, to enable use in controlling faucet flow. Second circuit means responsive to the DC signal include means for arming the circuit following the existence of the DC output signal for a first predetermined period; and means for thereupon generating a flow control signal for a second predetermined period following extinction of the DC output signal to enable use of the system to control flushing of urinals or commodes. Third circuit means responsive to the DC output signal provide a flow control signal during the existence of said DC output signal, to enable the system to be used for control of shower flow and include means for initial adjustment of water temperature. Configuration selection means, adjustable at installation of the system, enable the installer to configure the system to provide the DC output signal to one of the first, second or third circuit means.

Automatic fluid-flow control system

An automatically controlled faucet-sink system having a fluid dispensing faucet with a sink disposed below that faucet, is controlled by means of a light source-photosensor pair juxtapositioned within a housing mounted on or near the back of the sink so that the light beam and cone of vision of the photosensor are focused at a point intersecting the path of fluid flow from the faucet. Electrical circuitry and valve apparatus are provided which actuate and then cut-off the flow of fluid from the faucet in response to an object under the faucet reflecting light from the light source to the photosensor. Circuitry is also provided for terminating the flow of fluid from the faucet to the sink after a predetermined period has timed out.

Automatic faucet-sink control system

A method and apparatus built into and for illuminating the interior of a pocketbook, includes a photodetector circuit sensitive to low levels of ambient light for turning on a switching circuit to energize a light bulb mounted within the pocketbook, and a relay mechanism responsive to closure of the pocketbook for preventing operation of the photodetector circuit for turning on the switching circuit.

Automatic pocketbook illuminator

An electrically powered hand tool, such as a staple gun, can employ an electrical driver, such as a solenoid, which is actuated by a trigger circuit in response to depression of a trigger on the handle of the device. The trigger circuit can include a circuit board dimensioned to fit into the handle of the staple gun, and having AC input leads. A circuit formed of conventional electronic components delivers a burst of power to output leads which are in turn connected to a driver solenoid. This circuit is actuated to deliver the power burst by opening of a switch formed of two switch members: one switch member has a first flexible resilient conductive leaf formed, e.g., of an alloy of copper, extending beyond an edge of the board; the other member has a flexible resilient leaf with a bent-in pointed end contacting a side of the first blade. These blades are biased against each other to form a normally-closed switch. When the first blade is moved in one direction, the switch opens. When the first blade returns in the other direction to close the switch, the pointed end of the other resilient leaf of blade scratches off corrosion at the contact area of the two members. This permits low current (1 ma) to be used as a control current through the switch.

Trigger switch circuit for solenoid-actuated electric hand tool

A microfilm cartridge storage, retrieval, and projection system is disclosed. The system includes a vertically-oriented cylindrical cartridge storage drum which has a plurality of overlying tiers, each tier including successive side-by-side compartments which are oriented along radials of the cylinder and are adapted to hold a microfilm cartridge. Cartridge receiving and projection head means are mounted proximate the compartments of the drum, and are adapted for receiving a cartridge from a compartment in operative opposition thereto and for optically projecting a selected film frame of the cartridge. Cartridge displacement means mounted proximate the compartments of the drum, are adapted for displacing a cartridge in operative opposition thereto, which is then engaged by the receiving and projection head means. Orienting means are provided to enable relative vertical displacement between the drum, and each of the cartridge receiving and projection head means and the cartridge displacement means. The orienting means also provide angular displacement of the drum about its axis relative to each of the foregoing means to thereby bring each such means in operative opposition to a compartment containing a selected cartridge. Control means responsive to computer or operator selection of a cartridge and film frame actuate the orienting means, and thereupon the cartridge displacement means and the cartridge receiving and projection means.

Microfilm retrieval system

A silicon controlled rectifier trigger circuit is responsive to an input AC voltage and provides at least one drive pulse per switch activation to a load circuit. Such load circuit advantageously includes an electric stapler or an electric brad driver. Such trigger circuit generally comprises: a two-position switch; first and second capacitors; first and second Zener diodes; a transistor; and a silicon controlled rectifier. The drive pulse is provided to the load circuit when the switch is in its second position; the first capacitor is charged by the input AC voltage when the switch is in its first position; the first Zener diode and the transistor are conductive when the input AC voltage is greater than a first predetermined value; the first and second Zener diodes are conductive and the transistor is non-conductive when the input AC voltage is greater than a second predetermined value; the second capacitor is interposed between the first Zener diode and the transistor; the silicon controlled rectifier is conductive when the transistor is conductive and when the switch is in its second position to provide the drive pulse to the load circuit. According to specific embodiments of the present invention, one and only one drive pulse is provided to the load circuit per switch activation; two and only two drive pulses are provided to the load circuit per switch activation; and the time interval between consecutive drive pulses may be varied utilizing a potentiometer.
