An improved cross-flow filtration unit utilizing at least one two-ply membrane is disclosed that has a particular pore size relationship in the two membrane layers.

In a filter device with a filter stack (32) which is held in sealing position by two end plates (9, 2). At least one of which comprises fluid connections (3, 4, 5), and consists of round flat-filter elements (41) and alternatingly arranged, congruent, draining support elements (38), the end plate (2) comprising the fluid connections (3, 4, 5) is part of a housing (1, 2) surrounding the filter stack (32) and the peripheral approach flow of the filter stack (32) takes place via an annular housing space (11). The filter stack (32) is penetrated approximately in the direction of its diameter by a slot-like shaft (30, 30') for the fluid guidance of the retentate which shaft empties in the end plate (2) comprising the fluid connections (3, 4, 5). At least one permeate shaft (31) for removing the permeate from the plane of the filter elements (41) is arranged in the diametric end area of the stack surface. The permeate shafts (31) empty in the end plate (2) with connections (3, 4, 5). The support elements (38) which guide the fluid charged with particles are formed by overflow plates (38) with overflow conduits (39) located on both sides and running transversally to the slot-like shaft (30, 30') and each two filter blanks (36) are located under draining spacing by means of a drainage means between two overflow plates (38) for guiding the retentate and the permeate.

Filter stack for insertion in a filter device

In a method and a device for preventing or breaking down a filter covering layer during the filtration of liquids with finely distributed constitutents therein in a cross-flow operation in which the liquid to be treated is conducted in a narrow overflow slot (SP) between a filter surface (PM) and a slot limiter surface (FM), the slot limiter surface (FM) is brought adhesively into areal contact with the developing filter covering layer (DS) in a periodic manner by means of relative motion relative to the filter surface (PM) and the filter covering layer (DS) is removed in a rinsing fashion from the filter surface (PM) by reactivating the overflow slot (SP) and overflowing the filter surface (PM) and the slot limiter surface (FM). The movable wall is formed by a foil membrane consisting of plastic which is clamped on the edge in a sealing manner in a surrounding housing. The foil membrane can be loaded on the side facing away from the overflow slot by a gas or liquid source and the filter surface (PM) is formed by a flexible, permeable membrane.

Method, device and filter module for the filtration of liquids in

A filtration or diffusion cell, consisting of adjacent facing support plates and cut diaphragm sections of a semi-permeable diaphragm, for the treating fluids. The support plates are sealed by stringlike or bandlike sealing elements for the separate flow conduction of the fluids. Support plates are provided with channel grooves, for holding the sealing elements. The channel grooves are open toward the plate plane and are provided with perforations through which a sealing material inserted in a flowable state and solidified in the grooves. Several support plates are connected by the sealing material to form a plate holder-like unit, and form seals for separate flow conduction. The support plates are square-shaped, and the front side and the back side of the cut diaphragm sections are subjected to crosswise flow of the fluid. The cut diaphragm sections are supported by grooves and groove crests extending in flow direction of the support plates. The grooves are provided with longitudinally spaced passages leading to the opposite side of the support plates. Flow barriers crossing the grooves under an angle of about 45.degree. bring about a uniform overflowing of the diaphragm surfaces and prevent shortcuts.
