According to an illustrative example of the invention, a foot pedal acts upon a first master cylinder and with delay upon a second master cylinder. Both master cylinders are connected with a slave cylinder which acts upon a clutch releaser. In a first range of movement adjacent the clutch engagement condition, the foot pedal acts only upon the first master cylinder such that there is a small transmission ratio between the movement of the clutch pedal and the movement of the clutch releaser. In as second range of movement subsequent to the first range of movement, the clutch pedal acts upon both master cylinders so that there is a higher transmission ratio between the movement of the clutch pedal and the movement of the releaser.

Clutch actuating system

The invention relates to a twin-disc clutch with the intermediate plate controlled via a lever mechanism. For easier adjustment of the displacement force of the adjusting device which is provided, this latter is mounted in the center between the axes of rotation of the levers on the intermediate plate. In the case of one embodiment, the levers are guided on the tangential leaf springs; in another embodiment, they are provided at one end with a bearing point while at the other end they are free.

Twin-disc clutch

A vehicle clutch having clutch plate and disc members within a sealed clutch housing operative to effect engagement and disengagement of the clutch by operation of a disengaging member. An oil pump structurally associated with the disengaging member provides oil for the clutch through a guide wheel which is axially movable together with the disengaging member. In the engaged position, a deflector directs an oil stream from the guide wheel through openings to the clutch plate and disc members, while in the disengaged position a pump wheel is provided with pump impeller blades to deflect the oil stream from the guide wheel away from the clutch plate and disc members.

Hydraulic clutch brake for wet plate clutches

Uniform wear of the friction facings on the two driven disks of a friction clutch opposite an intermediate plate is favored by two-armed levers fulcrumed to equiangularly spaced, circumferential portions of the intermediate plate whose arms are hingedly fastened to the pressure plate and the clutch cover. When the pressure plate is moved axially relative to the clutch cover which rotates with the pressure plate, the axial stroke of the intermediate plate is a precisely defined fraction of the pressure plate stroke.

Disk clutch with two driven disks

The output shaft of an automotive friction clutch may be braked during shifting of the transmission into higher gear by a brake disc secured against rotation on the shaft and axially moved into engagement with a friction member on a non-rotating element of the vehicle by a pressure plate backed by a resilient wall of a chamber to which a pressure fluid is admitted when the driver depresses the clutch pedal further than needed for only disengaging the clutch. A switch closed by the pedal opens a solenoid valve in the pressure line to the chamber.
