A method and apparatus are disclosed for processing structured tissue material to form a compressed bundle of folded tissues. A web of at least one ply of structured tissue is subjected to a destructuring operation before folding with itself or with another similar web to form a stack. The stack can then be compressed to form the compressed bundle at a pressure that is less than would have been the case, had the structured tissue not first been destructured.

A method for forming a package including a stack of absorbent tissue paper material and a packaging, the tissue paper material in the stack forming panels having a length, and a width perpendicular to the length, the panels being piled on top of each other to form a height extending between a first end surface and a second end surface of the stack, and the packaging encircling the stack so as to maintain the stack in a compressed condition in the package, with a selected packing density D0 of the stack, and a selected packing height H0; the method including: forming the stack of absorbent tissue paper material; compressing each portion of the stack in a direction along the height to assume a temporary height H1 being c1&#xd7;H0, where c1 is between 0.30 and 0.95; and applying the packaging to the stack.

Method and apparatus for forming a package comprising a stack of absorbent tissue paper material and a packaging

A method is disclosed for forming a tissue bundle from a stack of folded absorbent tissues. The method includes the steps of forming a stack of folded absorbent tissues; compressing the stack to an initial density in a first compression step; wrapping the stack a first time in a supporting wrapper to form an initial bundle and maintain the initial density; subsequently applying a second compression step to compress the stack to a final density that is higher than the initial density; and wrapping the stack a second time to form a final bundle and to maintain the final density.

A dispenser for dispensing sheets of web material is provided. The dispenser includes a dispenser housing and storage compartment for receiving a stack of sheets of web material. The housing has a front side, a rear side, upper and lower end portions, and two vertical sides connecting the front and rear sides, the lower end portion forming a dispensing end portion of the dispenser. The storage compartment includes a support arrangement for supporting the stack of sheets of web material at the dispensing end portion of the dispenser. The support arrangement a dispensing opening is arranged in a portion between the front, rear and side portions and an abutment surface to which the stack of sheets of web material can abut.
