Pliers (1) have a pliers housing (2), a handle (6) which is articulated on the pliers housing (2), a pliers mouth (3) which accommodates processing elements, and a drive device, which can be operated by pivoting the handle (6), in order to drive the processing elements. An electric motor (18) is arranged in the pliers housing (2) in order to exert a further drive force on the processing elements during pivoting of the handle (6).

Servo-pliers

A tool according to the invention for stripping a conductor contains a handle element, a cutter piece, which is in the form of a rod, is supported on the handle element side and has a tip, in the form of a blade, which can be moved around a rotation axis at a distance, and an opposing bearing, which is arranged on the handle element, for holding the conductor. A supporting body is supported on the handle element, which supporting body can rotate about the rotation axis and in which the cutter piece extends with its longitudinal direction inclined with respect to the rotation axis.

In a pair of pliers for stripping the insulation from the ends of electrical conductors, comprising i.a. a two-members aggregate for carrying and longitudinally moving a pair of cutting and stripping jaws accommodate with a pair of clamping jaws, comprises a first member of said the two cutting and stripping jaws and a longitudinal rod part at the forward end of which is a plastics joint means in the shape of a forwardly open arc provided which is resilient at least along a portion of its circumference and carries both cutting and stripping jaws. The second member embodies a resiliently biassed driving lever which is with the aid of pivot means pivotally attached to a handle of the tool. Each of the two members inclusive of their mounting means is integrally made of plastics material so as to embody one single component.

Stripping pliers

Pliers having a pair of handles and a pair of shank members have one member of a die pair for treating a workpiece on each of the shank members. The die members are attached to the inner sides of the shank members rotatably about an axis situated in the tool plane, and a follower is provided to ensure their corotation. The workpiece may be introduced into the die pair frontally or laterally, depending on the rotational position of the die pair. In one embodiment, the die members are also pivotable about axes extending at right angles to the tool plane. The pliers may be used in many applications such as crimping electrical terminals.

Connectors with a barrel-shaped ferrule are produced from an intermediate which is embodied by metallic strip consisting of a plurality of connector blanks linked together by interconnecting means, each blank comprising a first ferrule-forming part and a second tongue-forming part, and including a first zone which comprises all the first parts, and an adjacent second zone which comprises all the second parts and all the interconnecting means, the side edges of neighbouring first parts in the strip being separated by free interspaces and a continuous layer or cover of insulating material being adhesively applied on the first zone, on at least one obverse surface of the strip, so as to extend beyond a terminal edge of the first part, the said layer being within said interspaces cut through and bent so as to form at least one flap sufficiently large to adhere when folded back.

Methods of producing intermediates for connectors with insulated ferrules

In a manually operated pliers-type tool comprising an elongated tool body with a part defining an operative section with two carrier means for operative means such as crimping die members, and a longitudinal operating lever, which is journalled to the tool body and together therewith defines a reverse handle arrangement, projects that part of the tool body and tool, which defines the operative section, in the direction from which the operating lever is attached to the tool body, and the operating lever terminates, in its folded-down position, before that projecting part, and is level therewith. In a preferred embodiment, one of the carrier means is embodied by at least one rocker which is pivotably mounted in the operative section with the aid of a resilient means, so that the respective operative means may recede to a certain degree under the effect of predetermined load.

Manually operated pliers-type tool

In a pliers-type tool with a fixed jaw carrier (13A) and a movable jaw carrier (13B) arranged on a pivotable rocker (14) which is connected with an at least to a limited degree resiliently bendable bracket (15). The rocker (14) is with the aid of a pivot pin (14A) pivotally attached to a longitudinal tool body (11), the pivot pin (14A) passing through the rocker (14) in a hole which is larger than the diameter of the pivot pin (14A), and is anchored on one end of a short link (17), the other end of which link is attached to the said bracket (17). Thus work pieces, having a size within certain limits, may be precisely treated.

Pliers-type tool

A contact element such as an end-sleeve or a cable shoe, having a connecting portion and a contact portion, is produced from an originally plane blank which has a substantially rectangular first part, which in the finished product defines said connecting portion, and a second part, which in the finished product defines said contact portion. A plurality of such blanks is joined into a metallic punching band with an obverse face and a reverse face and comprising a first zone with all the first parts of the blanks, and a second zone with all the second parts of blanks. On at least the obverse face of the first zone is an insulating cover or coating applied before the individual blanks are removed from the punching band, so that the contact elements having a metallic connection portion with an insulating layer are obtained.

A manual tool, drivable by a rotary motor, for treating work pieces by pressure, such as crimping contact terminals on electrical conductors, comprises in a tool body, on which a recess for the work piece is provided, a slidably mounted stamp member and a force transforming mechanism which has an input shaft drivable by the motor in rotary motion, and an output member for driving said stamp member through a tuggle linkage in a reciprocating motion toward and away from said recess.

Manual tool drivable by a rotary motor

A pliers-type tool with two handles has a parallel mechanism carrying two carrier members for working jaws. The mechanism comprises two cross-wise arranged guide lever means and one of the carrier members or one of the guide lever means is merged with one of the handles to a rigid tool body. A resilient member may be interposed, also in tools not having a parallel mechanism, between a link connecting the two handles and a counter-element in order to compensate for inaccuracies and/or to enable an extra push at the end of a closing movement of the handles.

A tool with two elongated handles and two jaws operatively connected to the handles is provided with a mechanism for preventing premature opening of the handles and jaws. The mechanism comprises a pawl operating as a bistable rocker and engaging, with one or with two engagement means, an engagement member defined by two projections delimitating an operational area, or by at least one row of teeth with which each of the two engagement means is alternately engageable, so as to prevent premature interruption of the closing movement and preferably also of the reverse opening movement of the handles and of the jaws.

Tool of the pliers-type

A stripping tool of a kind where first a local incision is made in the insulation layer or layers of an electrical conductor and then is extended along the entire cross-sectional periphery by relative rotation of the tool and of the conductor, is provided with a slider in a housing or tool body, which slider may be activated by an eccentric cam member so as to press the conductor against a cutting means. The cam member may be embodied by an annulus mounted on a bearing which has a central opening through which the user may slip on one finger of his hand in order to execute said rotation, and the cutting means may be defined by an exchangeable cassette provided with cutting blades settable by setting screws.

Stripping tool

In a pair of pliers where at least one of two shanks which carry jaws is built up of two spaced side-plates, is in at least one of the shanks a tapered section arranged rearwardly of a pivot point where the shank is attached to the other one. By the rearward location, which also allows a less steep taper, the tapered section is more spaced from the pivot point, whereby the danger of rupture upon heavy loading is diminished. Also the handles may be built up of spaced side-plates between which a stem portion of a protective grip with T-shaped cross-section is inserted.

A locator device for a tool with crimping dies for cable shoes has at least one track for accommodating the contact portion of the cable shoe, a stationary stop at the end of the track and a movable stop at a selected location along the track. For treating cable shoes with longer contact portions, the movable stop is lifted from the track so that the stationary stop is operative, and when treating cable shoes with shorter contact portions the movable stop is put in place. The device is preferably made as a readily mountable accessory to the crimping tool.
