A vehicle headlamp wiper apparatus having a wiper shaft which projects longitudinally outward from a housing toward the front of the vehicle. A locking device which axially fixes the shaft against longitudinal displacement relative to the housing is designed to release the shaft, and allow longitudinal displacement upon application of a longitudinal load of predetermined magnitude.

A spraying device for headlamp-cleaning systems for motor vehicles having an essentially cylindrical nozzle carrier which comprises two sections, with the vehicle-external nozzle carrier section being formed from a number of annular segments connected to one another in a hinge-like manner. In a rest position, the nozzle carrier is retracted in the vehicle body. When moved into the operating setting outside the vehicle, the front nozzle carrier section comprising the annular segments curves in an arc shape, such that a cleaning nozzle fitted to the head end of the nozzle carrier comes to be situated in an area just in front of the headlamp diffusing screen.

A drive mechanism for a motor vehicle windshield wiper device has a crank which is driven in a rotating manner and produces a pivoting movement of a windshield wiper via a drive rod. If the movement of the windshield wiper is obstructed by a snow wedge building up in the wiper socket, the drive mechanism provides for an obstruction evading movement of the drive rod in such a way that the crank can fully rotate unimpeded. In order to obtain a low loading of the drive rod and its joints in the event of obstruction of the windshield wiper and to obtain a uniform wiping zone in normal wiping operation, the novel drive mechanism for the drive rod is firmly coupled to the crank and a lost motion drive means is arranged on the wiper shaft.

An air guide box, particularly for installation in motor vehicles, has a part permanently located in a holder and a removable cover part for the replacement of, for example, an air filter insert. Actuating elements are fastened to the removable cover part and each of which operates an air butterfly also supported in the removable cover part. In order to avoid having to release specifically conduit connections required for the control of the actuating elements during the removal of the removable cover part, the conduit connections are run in sections in a wall of the removable cover part and of the permanently located part, respectively. A plug-in connection is provided in the joint between the two parts of the box, and is separated during the removal of the removable cover part and joined together again when the cover part is replaced. The removable cover part can be configured as a frame for adjustable plates of a cooling air guide on a fan.

A fresh-air supply system for a vehicle ventilation device through an air inlet opening in a bonnet or hood swivellably attached to the vehicle bodywork, has a fresh-air duct which starts from the air inlet opening, the first duct portion of which is arranged underneath the air inlet opening on the bonnet and the second duct portion of which is arranged immovably on the bodywork. The two duct portions of the fresh-air duct are brought by the closing movement of the bonnet into a connection position in which a circumferential sealing flange of the first duct portion cooperates with a corresponding sealing flange of the second duct portion. The cooperating sealing flanges of the two duct portions, lying in an approximately horizontal plane, are covered over by the bonnet. The first duct portion is a water-collecting box surrounding the air inlet opening and having a drainage device. An overflow opening from the first duct portion to the second duct portion lies above the drainage level in the first duct portion, in a manner protected from direct ingress of water.

Fresh-air supply system for a ventilation device of a vehicle

In a device for supplying fresh air to the passenger space of a vehicle, to ensure an easy filter change, at the same time with the air filter being protected against water, the fresh-air inlet is arranged in the engine hood and the water run-off is arranged on the top side, facing the fresh-air inlet, of a hood-like filter cover covering the air filter. The filter cover is fastened releasably to an air distributor box receving the air filter and carries air throughflow orifices in its casing region. With the engine hood open, the filter cover is freely accessible and can be removed from the air distributor box for the purpose of a filter change.

Device for supplying fresh air to the passenger space of a vehicle

In an air-conditioning system for vehicles, with a blower, evaporator, heat exchanger and air distributor box with air-outflow ports for at least one middle nozzle and for side nozzles, the air distributor box is connected directly by means of its inlet cross-section to the evaporator. The heat exchanger is arranged aproximately centrally in the air distributor box so as to subdivide the latter into a front and a rear space portion. An air-guide connection piece extends from the front space portion which leads to the middle nozzle and which is connected to the front space portion via a cold-air scoop flap and is in communication with the rear space portion via two bypass channels, in each of which a temperature control flap is arranged. Air-outflow ports for the side nozzles are arranged in the bypass channels. Thus, in the 'maximum cooling' mode, cold air passes directly from the front space portion of the air distributor box into the middle and side nozzles and improves the cooling of the passenger space.

In a heating/air conditioning system for a motor vehicle, with an exchangeable and selectively bypassable absorption filter which is arranged in a channel shaped housing and through which fresh air and/or circulating air can flow, a high degree of absorption is achieved when unprocessed air passing through internal leakage points at the absorption filter holder and the shut off bypass line of the absorption filter is collected and conveyed, via at least one line, to a location which is separated from the passenger space and the pressure level of which is lower than the pressure level on the flow off side of the absorption filter. Untreated air, which in certain circumstances escapes through external leakage points of a housing partition, is guided outside the passenger space, at the same time being prevented from overflowing into the latter.

A center console for motor vehicles includes storage compartment, a base body open in the upward direction and adapted to be covered by a pivotally connected cover member. An armrest is longitudinally displaceably supported on this cover member and can be transferred from a rearward pushed back position, located between the front vehicle seats, into a forward armrest position toward the instrument panel.

A cover sleeve for the protective covering of a clearance for the passage of a steering column of a motor vehicle through a dashboard is disclosed. To accommodate adjustment of the steering column as to its inclination and length, the cover sleeve is fastened by one end to the dashboard and by the other end to a steering column casing. The cover sleeve is braced between its fastening ends by a displaceable frame which is mounted on the casing and is acted upon in its direction of displacement by a resilient tensioning element.

A glove box, for motor vehicles is arranged beneath the instrument panel, and is provided with a lid pivotably mounted on it about a horizontal axis. A closing device secures the lid to the glove box. To reduce the risk of injury to vehicle occupants which results from the closing device, a lock part of the closing device is arranged on the underside of the instrument panel with a latchbolt fastened inside a cavity on the inside of the lid and a latch which can be activated through a traction cable from a remote location is provided.

A stroke-controlled windshield wiper unit having a gear casing, screw-connected rotationally solidly to a drive unit which can be mounted on the vehicle independently of the drive shaft by a drive shaft rotationally solidly connected to a stroke mechanism of the wiper. The drive shaft is designed as a hollow shaft which accepts a threaded bolt passing through it. The head of the threaded bolt is located at the gear casing end to allow assembly to previously installed windshield.

For obtaining a damped movement into the opened position in a glove compartment lid in a motor vehicle, a piston-cylinder unit constructed as brake is provided whose piston rod is operatively connected with a retaining member pivotally connected at the glove compartment lid. The air compressed during the opening operation by the piston leaves through a calibrated opening into the free atmosphere.

A fresh air supply device is disclosed which is connected upstream of a blower of a heating or air conditioning unit in a motor vehicle. The blower is accommodated by a housing with the fresh air entering into a gap between the windscreen and the adjacent hood. The fresh air is deflected while water and foreign bodies are separated and is supplied to a filter underneath the hood. The filter can be exchanged by pulling it out upwards. Downstream of the filter, the air enters the intake side of the blower. In order to prevent unintentional heating up of the fresh air in the intake tract, while retaining easy exchangeability of the filter, the filter is covered by an intake scoop which can be moved away and is thermally shielded relative to the vehicle hood or bonnet.

A defroster air vent arrangement is provided for uniformly distributing the air flow discharged from a defroster onto motor vehicle windshields which defroster air vent arrangement allows for adequate defrosting of the entire windshield in an open and in a partially closed positioning of the defrosting device. The vent arrangement is formed with a defroster nozzle connected to an air distributor housing. A defroster nozzle is provided with a wall web dividing the defroster nozzle into air guiding ducts of unequal cross-sectional areas and the air distributor housing is provided with an adjustable covering device providing for a selectively independent regulation of the flow of the defroster air into the air distributor housing and through to the windshield.
