In addition the burner nozzle (9) is to be disposed approximately in one plane with flame outlet openings of the accelerating accessory device (40) and is adapted to be retracted and extended.

A process for producing a corrosion-resistant protection on stabilizing wall surfaces and superheater tubes in sulfur-bearing hot gases which are used at surfaces temperatures of over 400.degree. C. in combustion installations, and a material in powder form which is suitable for that process, are intended to make it possible to use such wall surfaces and superheater tubes in sulfur-bearing hot gases in a good and durable fashion. A torch device with a torch body having separate ducts for oxygen and combustion gas supply is disclosed, wherein regulating and shut-off valves are provided in the torch body in substantially opposite relationship. A common actuating device for the shut-off valves is adapted for completely closing the shut-off valve for the combustion gas before starting the closing of the shut-off valve for oxygen. All gas ducts inside the torch body are formed by bores extending parallely to each other, while connecting passages are formed by bores extending orthogonally thereto.

The protective layers obtained by thermal spraying of the mixture have a heterogeneous, lamellar structure with low internal tensions even at substantial thickness, they have high resistance to frictional wear and very good frictional properties.
