The invention relates to a continuous casting mold, in particular a thin slab mold in which the flow of a liquid metal in the mold is influenced by a magnetic field generated by permanent magnets, wherein the permanent magnets have, over the width and/or height thereof, different magnetic strengths or are spaced from each other by different distances for a different field strength, so that to provide for variation of the magnetic field strength, the permanent magnets are differently adjusted in groups for changing a field strength distribution.

A broadside () for the broadside of a funnel mold for the casting of metal. Known broadsides of this kind have at least one groove-shaped cooling channel () in the backside (R) of the broadside. The continuous casting is continued without interruption during the rolling operation, and a sufficient buffer time for a roll change is maintained in the rolling mill. For carrying out a roll change, the casting rate is reduced as a function of the feed rate of the rolling mill and/or the roll-changing time, and/or the buffer length of the roller hearth furnace, and/or the final rolled thickness after the strand has been cut to length.

The invention relates to a casting roller (), for a double-roller continuous casting machine, in particular for the casting of a steel strip, comprising a cylinder sleeve () which may rotate about a fixed axle (). Intermediate rings () rotating with the cylinder sleeve () are arranged between the cylinder sleeve () and the axle (), which are provided with radial pressure means (), acting on the cylinder sleeve (). The above comprise a pressure chamber (), pressurized with a fluid pressure medium and acting on a pressure ring () fixed to the inner wall of the cylinder sleeve (), which may be deformed in the radial direction by inductive heating or radiated heat. The external profile of the casting roller () may be globally altered or local fine adjustments made by pressurizing the pressure chamber () with the pressure medium, or by heating the pressure ring ().

Casting roller for a double-roller continuous casting machine

The invention relates to a continuous casting mould for liquid metals, especially for liquid steel, comprising steel charging plates () which are surrounded by water reservoirs (), cassette-type copper plates () arranged against the same, end plates (), if needed, for the thickness and/or the width of the cast billet, and coolant channels (). Lateral seals () having sealing plates () are provided for laterally delimiting the casting gap, whereby the sealing plates () are placed or pressed with a preset placement or pressing force, whose magnitude can be set, against the end surfaces of the casting rolls (). The sealing plates () are, in repeatable stop-and-go steps, placed with a preset force and time against the end surfaces of the casting rolls () and are held in the placing position for a preset time. This enables a distinct reduction in the wear of the sealing plates and of the casting roll end surfaces.

Method for operating a strip casting machine for producing a metal strip

The invention relates to a method and casting roller plant for the semi-endless or endless rolling by casting of a metal, in particular a steel strip (), which may be transversely separated as required after solidification. The casting strip part lengths () are fed to a roller furnace () for heating and equilibration at the rolling temperature and the partial lengths () for rolling out are fed to a rolling train () for rolling, whereby the strip casting is continued uninterrupted during the rolling operation. According to the invention, a closer matching of the strip casting and the rolling can be carried out, whereby the casting speed (V) is reduced for a roller change such that between the end of rolling a preceding multiple length () and the insertion of a new partial length () or multiple lengths () into the rolling gear a sufficient buffer time for a roller exchange is provided.

The invention is directed to an immersion nozzle for a metallurgic vessel arranged upstream of a casting device, in particular a continuous casting mold or a twin roller, in which a slit-shaped pour-out opening () having a length that is several times greater than its width is provided in the base area. The cross section widens in the direction of its mouth from a round inlet cross section to a mouth cross section whose one semiaxis is smaller than, and whose other semiaxis extending perpendicular thereto is greater than, the semiaxis of the round inlet cross section and whose base shape corresponds to that of the body of revolution of an ellipse or of an oval mouth cross section around the greater semiaxis, and the slit-shaped outlet opening extends in direction of the greater semiaxis.

A controlled sequence of adjusting steps of the segments successively arranged in a direction of continuous casting is carried out, wherein, for reducing the section of the billet, the segments are advanced successively toward the billet in the continuous casting direction and, and for increasing the section of the billet, the segments are moved successively away from the billet in the continuous casting direction.
