An assembly for handling a bone implant includes a transfer cap which can be snapped onto the implant, and an adapter which engages with the implant. The head of the implant has a polygonal socket, an outer implant shoulder, and a shoulder edge located beneath the shoulder, while the transfer cap has an elastic lip that snaps over the shoulder edge, and the adapter has a polygonal drive projection adapted to engage within the polygonal socket. The adapter also has a plug-type extension for attaching a screw-in instrument. When the transfer cap is snapped onto the implant and the adapter is inserted, the polygonal projection engages with the polygonal socket on the implant, while the plug-type extension of the adapter that projects through the transfer cap is located on the outside. The transfer cap and the adapter plugged therein are detachably connected to one another.

The torque wrench (1) comprises a torque instrument (10) which is known per se--in the present case a ratchet instrument--as well as a torque indicator (40) which can be attached thereto. The torque indicator (40) possesses a sleeve-shaped support (41) which can be pushed onto the handle (12) of the torque instrument (10) and on which a linearly elastic bending rod (51) is fastened. Upon operation, the force (F) is exerted upon the free end of the bending rod (51) and the torque generated is displayed on a graduation (48). At its very front the support (41) possesses a non-rotationally symmetrical insertion zone (42) which receives the transition region (121) of the handle (12) in a manner fixed against rotation. The principal advantages of the torque wrench (1) are its dismantlability and the combination possibilities. The display accuracy of the torque indicator (40) is checked using a special test device.

The device comprises an intramedullar nail adapted to be driven into a hollow bone. The proximal terminal nail segment comprises an internal thread and a transversely penetrating longitudinal slot adapted to receive a screw to penetrate through the nail and to be screw-connected with the bone. The distal terminal nail segment comprises two transversely throughgoing holes each adapted to receive a screw to be screw-connected with the bone. An adjusting means comprises a bolt as adjusting member provided with an external thread screwed directly into the internal thread of the nail, or screwed into the internal thread of an insert in turn screwed into the internal thread of the nail, the bolt being adapted to be brought into direct or indirect engagement with the screw transversely penetrating through the longitudinal slot. By turning the bolt the screw may be pressed toward the distal end of the nail and displaced toward the same. The adjusting means or member may be inserted into the nail in rapid and simple manner after the nail has been driven into the hollow bone, and may be brought into a position, in which it engages the screw that transversely penetrates through the longitudinal slot. The entire adjusting means is adapted to remain inside the nail, until such time as the nail is removed from the hollow bone.
