In a safety system for a stepper-motor drive, a stepper motor for operating a throttle valve has poles with windings. Each pole winding is divided into part-windings, each of which is driven by a dedicated output stage. As a result, in the event of a failure of a part-winding or an output stage, it remains possible to control the stepper motor.

Safety system for a stepper-motor drive

With the present tank ventilation system formed of a fuel tank, an active carbon filter, a control unit, a lambda probe, a tank ventilation valve and a flow sensor it is possible to recognize defects at the connecting lines and the ventilation valve immediately. For the recognition of the defect, a control unit is provided which examines the signals arriving from the lambda probe and from the flow sensor along with the outgoing tank ventilation control signals for unreasonable events. When a defect is recognized, the error signal is stored. A ceramic PTC resistor is preferably employed as the flow sensor.

A type characteristic of a measurement transducer is stored in a type memory of an evaluator. Deviations of the type characteristic from the individual characteristic of the measurement transducer are defined by individual values which accompany the measurement transducer in a coding memory. A computer of the evaluator identifies the corresponding measured value for every electrical measured signal from the type characteristic and from the individual values.

The control occurs via a throttle valve that is adjusted by a stepping motor and is directly secured on the shaft of the stepping motor thereof. The stepping motor is driven in fine step mode in order to be able to position the throttle value with great precision. In order to achieve a high speed of adjustment, a rough step mode is provided, whereby an extremely large, dynamic load angle can be respectively achieved during accelerating and decelerating independently of the operating parameters.

The generator wheel is composed of a tooth part and of a marker part. The tooth part has a rotational axis and a coaxial tooth or toothed edge in the shape of a circular ring with teeth situated distributed over its circumference, some of said teeth being marker teeth which include a recess. The marker part is secured to the tooth part and contains sheet metal strips corresponding in number to the number of marker teeth, said sheet metal strips projecting into said recesses of the marker teeth. Marker part and tooth part are composed of materials having different eddy current losses.

The marks include a code track havig code marks and absolute marks, each absolute marks being preceded by a code element comprising a number of code marks. Each absolute mark is identified by a code section preceding and consisting of two or more code elements.
