Nets, preferably nets for aquaculture are provided, wherein the net comprises cords joined in a net mesh, wherein each cord comprises one or more yarns, the yarns having a tenacity of at least 0.6 N/tex and wherein the net has a mesh size of at least 8 mm, characterized in that the cords further comprise a polymeric resin, wherein the polymeric resin is a homopolymer or copolymer of ethylene and/or propylene, wherein the polymeric resin has a density as measured according to ISO1183 in the range from 860 to 970 kg/m, a melting temperature in the range from 40 to 140° C. and a heat of fusion of at least 5 J/g. The invention further relates to a fishing net, a fish farming construction comprising said net, a fish farm, and a method for fish farming.

Net for aquaculture

A rope system () comprising a splice structure () with an intact portion () comprising at least 8 intact strands (), and a disassembled portion () comprising at least 4 loose strands (), wherein the intact portion () is a braid of at least 4 S oriented () and at least 4 Z oriented intact strands (), wherein at least one loose strand () of the disassembled portion () passes under and over intact strands () of the intact portion (), and at least one loose strand () passes under at least one X-tuck () of intact strands (). By this means the splice length can be minimized resp. slippage of the splice at high loads can be avoided.

Low slip splice

Methods for impregnating a liquid material into a rope are provided whereby a liquid material is provided in a tank which defines the liquid level in the tank. An impregnation unit containing a chamber at least partially immersed in the liquid material includes a vacuum-device operatively connected to the vacuum-outlet of the chamber so as to lower the pressure in the chamber below atmospheric pressure. The rope may therefore be passed through the liquid material in the tank and then inside and outside the chamber via the rope-inlet and rope-outlet of the chamber, while maintaining the pressure inside the chamber below the atmospheric pressure to thereby force the liquid material to fill at least part of the interstices between the fibers of the rope by penetrating between the fibers.

Method and device for impregnating a rope with a liquid material

The invention relates to a high strength fibers comprising a coating of cross-linked silicone polymer, and ropes made thereof. The fibers are preferably high performance polyethylene (HPPE) fibers. The coating comprising a cross-linked silicone polymer is made from a coating composition comprising a cross-linkable silicone polymer. The rope shows markedly improved service life performance in bending applications such as cyclic bend-over-sheave applications. The invention also relates to the use of a cross-linked silicone polymer in a rope for an improvement of bend fatigue resistance.
