A prevailing torque clip (100) is provided that has a head portion (4) having a frusto-conical projection (10) having an aperture (6) therethrough that is provided preferably with diametrical opposed helical thread forms (8) and (8') that are operative to threadingly engage threads of a threaded member rotationally advanced therethrough. Head portion 4 includes a pair of ressilient arms (12) and (12') that end in respective free-ends (9) and (9') that are operative to engage the threads of the threaded member and cooperate with thread forms (8) and (8') to prevent loosening thereof. Clip (100) is adapted to prevent rattle when used to secure an object to thin wall panel by being provided with at least one pair of tabs (16) and (16') that are operative to elevate clip (100) from a panel to which it is being secured sufficiently to ensure that the portion of arms (12) and (12') that are in close proximity to projection (10) are positioned within the panel opening into which arms (12) and (12') are received.

Prevailing torque clip for thin wall panel

A clip on fastener (100) is provided that features a pair of spaced apart legs (2) and (6) extending from a closed end (9) to an open end (10) of fastener (100). Leg (6) includes a pair of resilient arms (16 and 18) that extend away from the side of the leg (6) facing away from leg (2) and end in overhanging relationship to an opening (7) through arm (16). Arm (18) extends towards closed end (9) and includes a guide tab (20) that extends angularly away from leg (2) towards open end (10). Tab (20) is operative to initiate separation of legs (2 and 6) to enhance receipt of an edge of a panel or plate (P) into open end (10).

Clip-on fastener

A clip (60) is provided for holding a union (50) joining two tubes (34, 36) together. Clip (60) has a pair of spaced-apart plate members (4,6) integrally joined at one end (10) for receiving union (50) therebetween with plate members (4,6) having respective slots (14,12) for receiving the tubes thereto. Plate members (4,6) have at least one resilient arm (16) operative to hold the tubes in the slots and at least one latch member (18) is provided for bridging across slots (14,12) and holding plates (4,6) against union (50).

Disclosed is an improved fastening device (70, 72, 74, 76, 78) for securement of a threaded member such as a screw ('s') to an article such as a panel or the like. The device is of the type having a base member (12) having a frusto-conical projection (14) having a lower and higher helical edge (16, 16a) surrounding an opening (40, 42') therethrough which in conjunction with a pair of resilient finger portions (30, 32') having respective free-ends (34, 36) spaced-apart from each other along an axis ('y--y') defined therebetween of which one finger portion is displaced a distance ('x') further from the base member than the other finger portion to provide a means of engaging the threads of the threaded member. Edges (16, 16a) are separated from each other by means of a slot (38) which, by extending beneath the finger portion having the higher free-end in a direction substantially transverse to axis 'y--y', is able to prevent cocking and cross-threading of the threads of the threaded member which has been a problem in the past particularly when the threaded member has a blunt rather than a pointed end.
