Water draining device for a paper machine or the like, in particular for a felted press of such a paper machine, including a receiving tank extending at least essentially over the machine width. The receiving tank includes a first chamber that receives arriving water and is under ambient pressure, and a second chamber that is connected to the first chamber and is under vacuum, into which the water collecting in the first chamber is aspirated and from which the water is eventually drained. A water receiving device of improved efficiency is also provided by forming a water receiving device by at least one suction channel projecting into the wedge-shaped area between the upper press roll and the dewatering belt, and extending transverse to the pulp web, which suction channel is connected to a source of reduced pressure.

Press device and method of using the same for treating a fibrous material web that includes a shoe press unit that includes a flexible press belt that revolves around a non-rotating carrier, a counter roll that includes a deflection compensation roll with a roll jacket revolving around a second non-rotating carrier, a third roll, a roll nip formed between the counter roll and the third roll, a press nip elongated in a web travel direction and formed between the shoe press unit and the counter roll, at least one first support element where the flexible press belt is supported on the non-rotating carrier by the at least one first support element in the region of the elongated press nip, at least one second support element where the roll jacket is supported on the second non-rotating carrier by the at least one second support element in the region of the elongated press nip. A changeable pressure differential occurs between internal pressures generated by the at least one first support element acting on the flexible press belt of the shoe press unit, and the at least one second support element acting on the roll jacket of the counter roll.

Press device and method of using the same

A sealing device and process for laterally sealing at least one overpressure zone or underpressure zone adjacent to an actuating surface in a paper-making machine. The sealing device has at least one sealing element arranged movably at least locally in an intake area of a support. The sealing element is loaded with a sealing or opposing force in order to place it against the actuating surface. A stopping element is fixed at a distance from the actuating surface which limits the seating motion of the sealing element.

Sealing device for laterally sealing of at least one overpressure zone and vacuum zone in a paper machine and process for sealing a moving surface with the sealing device. The sealing device includes a moving surface adjacent to the at least one overpressure zone and vacuum zone, at least one sealing element positioned opposite the moving surface, a holder in which the sealing element is mounted for movement relative to the moving surface, at least one loading element arranged to load the sealing element in a direction toward the moving surface, and at least one reset element arranged to act against the at least one loading element and to move the sealing element away from the moving surface. A sealing gap formed during operation between the sealing element and the moving surface is set by at least one of the reset element and the loading element. The process includes pressurizing the at least one loading element to press the sealing element against the moving surface, and pressurizing the at least one reset element to press the sealing element against the at least one loading element and in a direction away from the moving surface, whereby a gap is formed between the sealing element and the moving surface.

Suction device for use in a machine for producing a sheet and a method to vacuum a web section of a paper machine. The suction device includes a contact surface to place on the web section and a suction box. The suction box is designed to have a vacuum pressure applied to drain the web section. The suction device further includes a control device and a release mechanism or an adjustment mechanism for releasing the suction box from the web section while the vacuum pressure is applied or thereafter so that the web section is guided along the contact surface with less friction and without the web section detaching from the contact device. A method to suction a web section in a paper machine including arranging a contact surface a suction device on the web section and applying a vacuum pressure to the suction device to vacuum the web section. The method further includes operating the paper machine to guide the web section along the contact surface and pressing the web section onto the contact surface by the vacuum pressure. Finally, the method includes releasing the suction device from the web section at the time of or after applying the vacuum pressure thereby guiding the web section along the contact surface with less friction and without the web section detaching from the contact surface.

A suction device for a machine to produce a fibrous pulp web is provided that includes a suction unit extending transverse to a web run direction over a width of the web, a vacuum source coupled to the end of the suction unit, and a plurality of suction openings distributed over the web width, where the plurality of suction openings form an entire suction zone extending over the width of the web, and where the entire suction zone includes a plurality of partial suction zones successively arranged transverse to the web run direction.

Suction device

A suction roll for a paper machine or the like including a perforated annular roll shell which is rotatable. A stationary suction box inside the roll shell with respect to which the shell rotates. The suction box is defined between two circumferentially spaced sealing ledges at the roll shell. A noise dampening chamber on the downstream side of the suction box defined by a further sealing ledge at the roll shell. A conduit communicating to the noise damping chamber to allow increased pressure in the chamber which reduces noise. At least one of a snifter valve, a suction blower, an air pump and a water pump communicating to the conduit for selectively adjusting the pressure in the noise damping chamber for damping roll noise.
