The invention relates to a disposable diaper (), used more particularly in the event of incontinence, comprising a hip band () forming a hip opening in the diaper which is closed in the direction of the periphery whereby said hip band can be opened in at least one place and can be closed, also comprising a front area, a rear area and a main diaper part () which has a crotch area located there between and which comprises an absorbing body () for liquids. The main part () of the diaper can be detachably fixed to the hip band using the longitudinal end of the front area or rear area, by means of first closing means () such that a user can place the main part () of the diaper between his/her legs when the hip band is worn () and can detachably fix the free longitudinal end of the main part () of the diaper to the hip band (). The hip band () is made of a single-pieced material section () which is added to the main part () of the diaper and which is folded on the two sides of a longitudinal center axis around two fold lines () extending in the longitudinal direction () of the diaper.

A loop-forming nonwoven material () is used as a mechanical closure element, in particular for disposable sanitary articles () such as various types of nappies, incontinence articles and pads. A first upper face () of the nonwoven material () has first larger non-bonded areas (), which are located at a distance from one another in the form of islands. The first larger non-bonded areas () of the nonwoven material are delimited by bonded contours () and surrounded by second smaller non-bonded areas () lying outside said delimitation and separating the larger areas from one another.

The invention relates to a single use hygiene article, comprising an absorbing body layer (), which serves to store body fluids and which can also contain superabsorbent materials, and comprising standing cuff elements (), which extend in an essentially longitudinal direction, form a lateral leakage barrier and which are attached to the body-facing side of the article at least along a cuff base line (). The cuff elements () are guided with variable distances between the cuff base lines (). The aim of the invention is to improve the absorption characteristics of the hygiene article. Towards this end, the article is designed in such a manner that the absorbing body layer () comprises, in a transversal direction () of the hygiene article up to the lateral edges () and/or in a longitudinal direction () up to at least one longitudinal end (), an increasing mass per unit area of an absorbent material of this layer. In addition, the area () of the greater mass per unit area has at least one partial area () in which the distance () of the cuff base lines () from one another is greater that outside this partial area ().
