A high-temperature fuel cell system having a particularly simple construction and a particularly low power requirement for a compressor on the air side, includes at least one high-temperature fuel cell stack being disposed in a container and forming a partition or part of a partition separating an air entry space into which air inlets of high-temperature fuel cells open, and an air exit space into which air outlets of the high-temperature fuel cells open, from one another in gas-tight fashion in the container. Preferably, at least one location in the partition is provided at which the air situated in the air exit space can be recirculated at least partially into the air entry space through the use of air flowing into the air entry space. The effect achieved thereby is that the compressor compresses cold, relatively dense air and a recirculation of hot air in the container can be carried out without the use of moving parts.

High-temperature fuel cell stack arrangement with centrally located exit

A nuclear reactor system having a water-cooled reactor includes a reactor containment. A shielding pit inside the reactor containment has a lower region with an outlet opening formed therein. A reactor pressure vessel is disposed in the shielding pit. A moderating cell is disposed downstream of the outlet opening and has a device for slowing down and diverting a melt flowing through the outlet opening. A catch basin is disposed downstream of the moderating cell for receiving a melt and a supply of water. A method for operating a nuclear reactor system includes covering the bottom of the catch basin with water during normal operation of the reactor, and maintaining the water in the catch basin at a surface level being lower than the lowermost region of the bottom of the shielding pit.

Nuclear reactor system and method for operating the same

A valve, particularly for shutting off a flow, includes a housing. A rotationally fixed threaded part is rotationally fixed and axially displaceable in the housing. A rotatable threaded part is axially resiliently and rotatably supported in the housing. A brake device has at least two friction surfaces facing one another. One of the friction surfaces is rotationally fixed in the housing, and the other of the friction surfaces is rotationally fixedly joined to the rotatable threaded part. The friction surfaces are pressed against one another by an axial displacement for braking a rotary motion of the rotatable threaded part and forming a braking surface, if a predetermined command force upon the rotationally fixed threaded part is exceeded. At least one of the friction surfaces has a predetermined free angle for rotational fixation. According to one embodiment of the invention, at least one brake ring is axially displaceably disposed on the rotatable threaded part, and the other of the friction surfaces is located on the at least one brake ring. According to another embodiment of the invention, a brake sleeve being axially displaceable in the housing has an end surface, and the one friction surface is disposed on the end surface of the brake sleeve.

Shut-off valve

A fitting, in particular for shutting off a flow, includes a housing. A fixed threaded part is axially displaceable and fixed against relative rotation in the housing. A rotatable threaded part is axially resiliently and rotatably supported in the housing. A braking device has at least two friction surfaces facing toward one another and being pressed against one another with a braking force if a predetermined rated force upon the fixed threaded part is exceeded, in order to brake a rotary motion of the rotatable threaded part through an axial displacement and form a braking surface. One of the friction surfaces is connected to and fixed against rotation relative to the rotatable threaded part. A cup spring assembly has a width, an intermediate radius and at least one cup spring for resiliently supporting the rotatable threaded part in at least one axial direction. The braking force relative to the width of the cup spring assembly is introduced over the intermediate radius of the cup spring assembly.

Fitting for shutting off a flow

A storage frame for nuclear reactor fuel assemblies includes a base plate. A plurality of shafts stand erect on and are secured to the base plate. The shafts each have a substantially rectangular cross section and are disposed diagonally opposite one another in a checkerboard-type configuration. The shafts have longitudinal edges adjacent one another with an offset defining a gap therebetween. At least two connecting elements join at least some of the diagonally opposite shafts together along the longitudinal edges by spanning the gap. The at least two connecting elements include at least one first connecting element being associated with a respective pair of the longitudinal edges and have a high rigidity in a first direction parallel to the base plate. The at least two connecting elements also include at least one second connecting element being associated with a respective pair of the longitudinal edges and having a high rigidity in a second direction parallel to the base plate.

Storage frame for nuclear reactor fuel assemblies

A bolted pipe joint releasable by remote control includes two flanges each eing disposed at a respective one of two pipe ends. A centering aid cooperates with both of the flanges. A seal is provided for the pipe ends. A fastening screw presses the two flanges together. The fastening screw has first and second threaded regions being successively engaged upon pressing the flanges together. The first threaded region has a substantially greater pitch than the second threaded region.

A remote-controllable screw connection includes a nut, a first flange relvely closer to and a second flange relatively further away from the nut. At least one screw bolt connects the flanges to the nut. A sheath surrounds the screw bolt between the nut and the first flange. The sheath is non-rotatably but axially displaceably connected to the screw bolt.

A rotating piston compressor includes a cylinder. A thin-walled radially resilient piston contacts the cylinder at a given location and has a circular cross section, a surface facing the cylinder and a surface facing away from the cylinder. A rotationally symmetrical radial support engages the surface of the piston facing away from the cylinder. The support and the piston have local play therebetween at the given location. A drive shaft is connected to the support for eccentrically moving the support and the piston, the drive shaft having an eccentricity being greater than one-half the difference between the diameters of the cylinder and the piston.

The shut-off device is a hollow cylinder upon which is disposed a brake for fixing the position of the device in the pipeline and a seal which seals the area between the hollow cylinder and the wall of the pipeline. A valve is positioned in the hollow cylinder which allows flow of the pipeline fluid through the hollow cylinder when open but can be closed to stop the flow of pipeline fluid through the cylinder. The device is movable through the pipeline.

A rotating piston compressor includes a cylinder having inlet and outlet openings formed therein, a piston rotating in a given direction in the cylinder, a shaft supporting the piston and rotating in the given direction, a casing connected to the cylinder and having slits formed therein, a control device for controlling flow through the inlet and outlet openings in the form of a rotary slide disposed outside the cylinder in the casing, the rotary slide being connected to the shaft for a steady, synchronized rotational movement, and the relative position of the rotary slide and the casing being adjustable.

A double-acting rotary drive for a control device having an end position fixed in the form of a stop, includes a motor, a torque-changing gear connected to the motor, a driver associated with the torque-changing gear for neutralizing a torque-increasing action of the torque-changing gear or switching on a torque-lowering action after the torque-changing gear rotates through a portion of a total given rotational path thereof, a return travel lock for locking the torque-changing gear in place being released before the driver becomes operative.

Double-acting rotary drive for a control device

A valve for shutting off a flow having a housing wherein a plug member is movable between 'on' and 'off' terminal positions by means of a thread; a rotary drive which is switchable off with time delay in the 'off' terminal position of the valve; a resilient member for limiting an increase in torque generated by kinetic energy of the rotary drive in the 'off' terminal position; and a torque control for the rotary drive includes means defining a range of rotation of the rotary drive in both directions of travel thereof, the entire range of rotation corresponding to a stroke of the plug member and being subdivided into a starting range beginning at one terminal position and ending before a new terminal position is reached as well as into the remaining range; the rotary drive having an available starting torque (break-away torque), taking into consideration the tolerance limit of the power supply in the starting range downwardly, which is at least 10% higher than the largest torque applicable by the rotary drive, taking into consideration the tolerance limit of the power supply in the remaining range upwardly.

A rotating piston compressor includes a cylinder having a first given diameter, a thin-walled, radially-resilient piston with a circular cross section and a second given diameter being disposed in the piston, a radial support for the piston in the form of a rotation-symmetrical thin-walled shell formed of permanently elastic material having one end connected to the piston and another end, a body with a circular periphery holding the other end of the shell, and a drive shaft connected to the body for moving the piston with an eccentricity being larger than one half of the difference between the first and second given diameters.

A shutoff valve, includes a conical valve seat, and a valve disc movable toward the valve seat in a given direction, the valve disc including a base body covering the valve seat, an annular projection projecting from the base body in the given direction, and a rim formed on the outside of the projection resting against the valve seat in a closed position of the valve, the projection having a region with a given wall thickness in vicinity of the base body and the projection having a free end reinforced to at least 1.5 times the given thickness in the radial direction.

A machine, in particular a working machine for the compression and conveyance of fluids, comprises a cylinder (2) and a thin-walled annular piston (4) arranged eccentrically with respect to the cylinder (2), with the piston being in flat contact either inside or outside with a cylinder wall (8). The cylinder (2) or the cylinder housing, contains a parting element (12) whereby a suction chamber (33) is separated from a pressure chamber (35) between the cylinder and the annular piston (4) and whereby by means of a rotating body a rotating motion may be imparted to the annular piston (4). The annular piston (4) is to be exposed to low alternating stresses and between the cylinder (2) and the annular piston (4) a low local surface pressure is to be achieved, while assuring a reliable contact in the rolling range (A). It is proposed according to the invention to provide an essentially circular configuration of the annular piston (4), with the deviation from the circular amounting a maximum of 5% of the piston diameter and that further the center (26) of the annular piston (4) with the rotating body be arranged offset in the direction of the rolling range (A) from the center (28) of the cylinder (2) by the sum of the eccentricity (e) and the deformation (d). The eccentricity here is equal to one-half of the difference of the diameters of the cylinder (2) and the annular piston (4), while the magnitude of the rolling range (A) is determined by the deformation (d).
