Disclosed are systems and methods of operation for capacitive radio frequency micro-electromechanical switches, such as CMUT cells for use in an ultrasound system. An RFMEMS may include substrate, a first electrode connected to the substrate, a membrane and a second electrode connected to the membrane. In some examples, there is a dielectric stack between the first electrode and the second electrode and flexible membrane. The dielectric stack design minimizes drift in the membrane collapse voltage. In other examples, one of the electrodes is in the form of a ring, and a third electrode is provided to occupy the space in the center of the ring. Alternatively, the first and second electrodes are both in the form of a ring and there is a support between the electrodes inside the rings.

Systems and methods of operation of capacitive radio frequency micro-electromechanical switches

An intraluminal ultrasound imaging device includes a flexible elongate member configured to be positioned within a body lumen of a patient. An ultrasound imaging assembly is disposed at the distal portion of the flexible elongate member. The ultrasound imaging assembly includes a plurality of acoustic elements and an acoustically-transparent window disposed over the plurality of acoustic elements. The acoustically-transparent window comprising a plurality of layers formed on top of one another. The plurality of layers includes an innermost layer directly contacting the plurality of acoustic elements, an outermost layer opposite the innermost layer, and an adhesive layer. The outermost layer includes a tubing. A hardness of the innermost layer is less than hardnesses of every other layer of the plurality of layers. A hardness of the outermost layer is greater than the hardnesses of every other layer of the plurality of layers.

Acoustically transparent window for intraluminal ultrasound imaging device

Disclosed are systems and methods of operation for capacitive radio frequency micro-electromechanical switches, such as CMUT cells for use in an ultrasound system. An RFMEMS may include substrate, a first electrode connected to the substrate, a membrane and a second electrode connected to the membrane. In another example, there is a capacitance sensing circuit provided, which is arranged to determine a drift voltage of the CMUT cell.

An ultrasound transducer array is provided that comprises a plurality of CMUT (capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducer) cells (), each CMUT cell comprising a substrate () carrying a first electrode () of a first electrode arrangement, the substrate being spatially separated from a flexible membrane including a second electrode () of a second electrode arrangement by a gap (), at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode being electrically insulated from said gap by at least one dielectric layer (), wherein at least one of the first electrode arrangement and the second electrode arrangement is partitioned into a plurality of sections interconnected by respective fuse portions (). The invention relates to a light source () comprising a light generating unit () like an organic light emitting diode and an outcoupling device () for coupling light out of the light generating unit in an outcoupling direction (). The outcoupling device comprises a first region () for facing the light generating unit, a second region () having a refractive index being smaller than the refractive index of the first region, and a structured intermediate region () between the first region and the second region. Organic electroluminescent device

The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a light emitting device with improved internal out-coupling by providing an intermediate layer () with a modulated surface. This is achieved by exposure of a flat glass surface () to a saturated etching fluid or by providing local changes in the chemical surface composition of the glass substrate or by depositing locally separated sub-&#x3bc;m particles. By removal of the etching fluid, either ultrafine particles () are deposited or defects are generated consisting of glass component areas of sub^m-size extension with a high sticking coefficient with respect to the species deposited later on from the gas phase. These ultrafine particles or defects induce locally different growth by different sticking coefficients, with preferential columnar cone shaped growth, leading to small bumps () on the top surface of the intermediate layer (), which are then over-coated with the layers () of the light emitting element and induce sufficient scattering by subsequent reflections.
