A short-circuit current limiter has a vacuum switch in a main current path and a current-limiting unit connected in parallel therewith in a commutation current path. The vacuum switch has switching contacts. A material of contact pieces of the switching contacts is selected such that a mean value of the chopping current is at least 8 amperes.

A conductor arrangement for a resistive switching element, has at least first and second conductor connections disposed in a mutual plane adjacent to each other and insulated against each other. The composite conductors each have two conductor parts extending parallel, and forming a bifilar construction. The conductor parts are constructed from at least one superconducting conductor band. The composite conductors are formed into a coil winding, wherein the windings thereof substantially extend in the manner of a spiral, and are insulated against each other by a spacer.

A method for the in situ extraction of bitumen or very heavy oil from oil sand deposits close to the surface, where thermal energy is introduced into the deposit to reduce the viscosity of the bitumen or very heavy oil is provided. Condensed water is used that is introduced into the deposit via an injection pipe and is horizontally conducted inside the pipe within the deposit such that the water can evaporate in situ and the heat can be applied to the deposit. An apparatus including an injection pipe, an extraction pipe, a converter and electrical conductors are also provided.

Method and apparatus for in situ extraction of bitumen or very heavy oil

Between adjacent windings of a bifilar coil made of an HTS strip conductor in a resistive superconductive current limiter device, a spacer is provided which is transparent for a coolant. The spacer includes an electrically insulating support tape for sufficiently massive spacer elements attached thereon. The spacer elements are spaced and made of a material having high thermal conductivity. The spaces between the spacer elements form cooling channels for the coolant.

A method to extract bitumen or very heavy oil in situ from oil sand seams close to the Earth's surface is provided. Energy is introduced via at least two pipes at a given, repeatable distance from the seam, a predefined geometry is maintained in relation to the well pair. The associated apparatus includes at least one additional pipe which is alternatively designed as an electrode or also for feeding vapor and is placed above the injection pipe.

The superconducting current-limiting device contains at least one coil (), the conductive track of which is formed from at least one band-shaped superconductor (), where a holding element () is located between adjacent coil windings. The holding element () is constructed wider than the superconductor () in the axial direction of the coil (). The holding element () further includes a flat strip () and an undulating strip (). The flat strip () extends essentially parallel to the band-shaped superconductor () at an essentially constant distance () therefrom. The undulating strip () extends essentially parallel to the flat strip (), and in the longitudinal direction periodically has regions () distant from and regions () close to the flat strip (). The regions () of the undulating strip far from the flat strip have recesses () of such a kind that an at least approximately close-fitting mounting of the band-shaped superconductor () relative to the flat strip () is facilitated.

Superconducting current limiter device of the resistive type having a holding element

A device for the in-situ extraction of a hydrocarbon-containing substance, while reducing the viscosity thereof, from an underground deposit, has at least one injection pipeline extending in the deposit and at least one production pipeline leading out of the deposit, which together form a so-called well pair. The injection and production pipelines each have a starting region extending above ground in some areas, and an active region connecting to the starting region inside the deposit. With the method, during a heating phase hot steam is applied to the injection and production pipelines, while during a production phase hot steam is applied only to the injection pipeline. Furthermore, the active region of the injection pipeline is additionally configured as an induction heater regarding the surrounding area in the deposit. In the associated device, for example, the well pair formed by the injection pipeline and production pipeline can be configured as electrodes.

Method and device for the in-situ extraction of a hydrocarbon-containing substance from an underground deposit

The conductive path of the current-limiting device is made of a strip-shaped super conductor, whereby the structure thereof has a metallic strip, at least one oxidic buffer, a type ABCuOsuper conductive layer and a metal cover layer which is arranged thereon. An intrinsically stable bifilar coil is embodied with said super conductor, and a distance is maintained between adjacent coil windings, wherein a distance maintainer is arranged which is transparent to the coolant.

A superconductor has a conductive path with a metallic substrate strip, a super-conductive layer made of a ABCUOtype high-T-super conductive material, at least one insulating buffer layer which is arranged therebetween, and a metallic cover layer which is arranged thereon. At least one contacting element made of a normal conductive contacting material and arranged at least on one longitudinal side of the structure between the cover layer and the substrate strip enables a predetermined normally conductive limitation of the current-limiting device to be obtained.

The resistive current-limiting device contains a strip-shaped superconductor having a conductive structure which is made of a metallic substrate strip, an insulating, oxidic buffer layer, a super-conductive layer made of a type AB2Cu3Ox oxidically high-T-super conductive material, an insulating buffer layer which is arranged therebetween, and a metal cover layer. At least one of the lateral edges of the conductive structure is mechanically deformed such that the cover layer and the substrate strip are arranged in electric contact.
