Stress reducing system and associated method for reducing stresses at a desired position in an offshore production or drilling system, the offshore production or drilling system comprising: a seabed structure, a floating structure and a riser () extending there between, the riser being tensioned, the riser () comprising at least a first part () and a second part (), which second part () is connected to the first part () via a flexible connection () allowing an axial, angular and/or rotational movement between the first and second parts (), said stress reducing system comprises:&#x2014;a first sensor () for real-time monitoring of stresses at the desired position, positioned at or close to the desired position (),&#x2014;an actuating system () arranged at the flexible connection (the actuating system () being connected to said first and second parts (), and wherein the actuating system () is configured to apply a force to the first or second part () when the first and second parts () are moved out of a neutral position,&#x2014;a control system () adapted to receive monitoring data from the first sensor (), wherein the control system () is connected to the actuating system () and is able of providing instruction signals to the actuating system (), wherein the control system (), based on said monitoring data from the first sensor (), is able to calculate a real-time set of data for control of the applied force of the actuating system () and instructing the actuating system () to act accordingly, such as to reduce the stress at said desired position.

Stress reducing system and associated method

The present invention relates to a riser joint for a riser with a joint connecting two parts of a riser where the two parts are allowed angular displacement. According to the invention the riser joint comprises means for connection to the two parts of the riser at a distance from the joint, and means for adding a force between the two parts. The invention also relates to a method for reducing bending moments in a riser at a connection between the riser and a subsea installation.

Force element arrangement and method

The invention relates a cylinder release arrangement, wherein at least one cylinder is arranged with a piston within the cylinder, and a cylinder head closing off one end of the cylinder, forming a chamber between the piston and the cylinder head, wherein the cylinder is provided to arrange a leakage of fluid from one side of a piston to the other side of the piston, when the piston is in a given position within the cylinder, and release means are provided for the subsequently controlled release of the cylinder head from the cylinder. The invention also comprises a cylinder arrangement with a release mechanism.

Cylinder release arrangement

The invention relates to a safety joint and a method of operation, the safety joint comprising: a first riser part and a second riser part overlapping in an axial direction and having end connections to be connectable as part of a riser, a release unit, locking the two riser parts together in a not activated mode, the release unit having other modes comprising a partly activated mode and fully activated mode, where the release unit comprises at least one axial extending tension rod connected between the two riser parts, which tension rod is configured to deform plastically before breaking, thereby activating the partly and fully activated modes.

Safety joint

The present invention regards a joint for use in a riser () extending between a floating installation () and a subsea installation (). The joint comprises an inner pipe segment () and an outer pipe segments (), arranged moveable relative each other in an axial direction and connectable to respective riser segments, forming a chamber () between them with a radially extending piston (), dividing the chamber () in a first chamber part () and a second chamber part (), wherein on of said chamber parts () in an initial position of the joint is adapted to contain a mainly incompressible fluid, this chamber part () decreasing in volume as the inner pipe segment () is moved relatively out of the outer pipe segment (). According to the invention the joint is configured with a fluid line connection () from said one chamber part () to the other chamber part (), configured such that the relative movement of the pipe segments () is controlled by the allowed flow rate of a fluid flowing out of the chamber part () through the fluid line connection () to the other chamber part ().

Trigger joint

The present invention concerns a pressure containment device for use in a lubricator. The device includes a housing having a first main bore extending throughout its length a number of transversal bores intersecting the main bore. Pairs of opposing rams are located in the transversal bores to grip and seal around a cable in the main bore.

Subsea wireline lubricator

A device for intervention of a subsea oil and/or gas well by means of a tool () suspended by a cable (), fed from or withdrawn to a vessel () and driven by a drive mechanism () located on the vessel. The device comprises a lubricator () having a tool housing for the insertion of the tool into the well, and a stuffing box () sealing around the cable after the tool is inserted into the well. According to the invention an injector which drives the cable in the well is located on the lubricator, and is controllable independently of the drive mechanism for the cable located on the vessel. The drive mechanism and the injector may be synchronized in a manner, among others, providing that the cable is hanging in a predetermined arc during the intervention, whereby the vessel may be moved from the well. Moreover, the invention relates to a method and a cable used together with the device.

Intervention device for a subsea well, and method and cable for use with the device

A safety valve of the type where two valve elements ( ) in a bore ( ) can be moved towards each other for closing a flow path ( ). Each valve element comprises two parts ( ), each of which is connected to an actuator ( ), thus enabling them to be moved independently of each other.

A clamping device for a wire or cable ( ), the end of which has to be attached in a housing ( ) includes two clamping bodies ( ) with interacting conical surfaces. One clamping body ( ) is arranged for receiving and passing through the cable ( ), which has to be secured. The second clamping body ( ) is arranged to exert pressure against the first clamping body for frictional securing of the cable. The clamping bodies are arranged in such a manner that when the tension in the cable increases the clamping bodies enclose the cable more tightly. The invention is particularly suitable for tools that have to be lowered into a well by the cable.
