The invention relates to a process for coloring linear polyesters in the melt. The process comprises the use of 1-hydroxy-4-phenylaminoanthraquinones of the formula ##STR1## wherein one X is a hydrogen atom and the other is an alkylsulfonyloxy or chloroalkylsulfoxy group and Y is a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl group. The violet shades obtained are distinguished by excellent color strength and purity and also by good fastness properties.

Process for coloring linear polyesters in the melt

The invention relates to the use of the dye of the formula ##STR1## for transfer printing, and to printing inks and supports for transfer printing which contain, in addition to the customary constituents, the dye of the indicated formula, as well as to the material printed with the dye.

Transfer dye

An anthraquinone dye of sparing aqueous solubility of the formula ##STR1## WHEREIN X represents oxygen or NH, Y represents alkylene having 1 to 4 carbon atoms which is optionally interrupted by oxygen, nitrogen or sulphur, Z represents oxygen or -NR.sub.1, in which R.sub.1 represents an alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or hydrogen, Ac represents the acyl radical of a carboxylic acid having up to 8 carbon atoms, a sulphuric acid having up to 7 carbon atoms or a carbamic acid having up to 8 carbon atoms, and B represents chlorine, bromine or hydrogen. The new dyestuffs dye polyester fibres in very fast blue shades.
