A method is disclosed for handling cloud computing resources in a wireless communication network comprising a first and a second access subnetwork providing wireless access to wireless communication devices residing in a first and a second geographic area, respectively, and a first and a second cloud computing resource connected to the first and the second access subnetwork, respectively. The method comprises obtaining mobility information over a time period for the wireless communication devices of when, during the time period, each of the devices has wireless access to the communication network via the first access subnetwork and when they have wireless access to the communication network via the second access subnetwork. The method also comprises selecting which of the first or second cloud computing resource that is to serve each of the devices based on the obtained mobility information, and sending an instruction to each of the devices to connect to a server that is connected to the selected cloud computing resource for that wireless communication device.

Methods, systems and wireless communication devices for handling cloud computing resources

A method for managing traffic processed by a target network function of a communication network is disclosed. The target network function transmits and receives traffic over a communication channel that carries traffic between network functions and application functions. The method, performed by a Data Analytics Function (DAF) of a communication network, comprises receiving information about traffic flows over the communication channel, establishing a priority amongst traffic flows over the communication channel, based on the received information, generating a recommendation for traffic processing on the basis of the established priority, and sending the generated recommendation to a function in the network that has a management responsibility for the target network function.

Management of traffic over a communication channel

Methods and apparatus are provided for network slice configuration. In one example aspect, a method in a network function in a network is disclosed. The network is a visited network for at least one User Equipment, UE. The network provides a network slice for the at least one UE, and the network function is a gateway for data communications for the at least one UE. The method includes obtaining an IP address for at least one service for the at least one UE, and providing the at least one service to the at least one UE according to a gateway configuration from a home network of the at least one UE.

Network slice configuration

A communication network () provides communicative coupling between potentially large populations of Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices () and/or other types of communication devices () and one or more Application Servers (ASs) () that are affiliated with respective ones of the communication devices (). One or more network functions () in the communication network () are operative to determine that any given one of the communication devices () is compromised, or that multiple such devices () are compromised, and provide for management of such devices () within the network () as 'compromised' devices (). Aspects of compromised-device management include forcing re-registration of such devices (), for quarantining them in one or more quarantine network slices (), and recovering quarantined devices () after remediation of the compromise. Recovery operations include forcing re-registration of devices () being recovered, for migration back to their normal or regular network slice(s) ().

Methods and apparatuses for managing compromised communication devices in a communication network

A first network node in a communication network can evaluate whether to scale a first resource of a network slice of the communication network. The first network node can receive, from a second network node of the communication network, a first message indicating a request for approval to scale the first resource of the network slice. Responsive to receiving the first message, the first network node can determine whether to scale the first resource of the network slice based on information regarding a second resource. The first and second resources may be of different types. The first network node can transmit, to the second network node, a second message indicating whether to scale the first resource of the network slice based on determining whether to scale the first resource of the network slice. Related methods are also discussed.

Evaluating overall network resource congestion before scaling a network slice

A user equipment (UE) a packet core system and method for common charging of network connectivity and cloud resource utilization for the UE. Upon receipt of a service request from the UE the packet core system sends a service definition of common network connectivity and cloud service classes. The UE sends a request for a network connectivity and cloud resource service with a common network connectivity and cloud service classes. The common class is translated into a first network connectivity class and a second cloud service class. A request for a cloud service comprising the second cloud service class is sent to a cloud node, and charging event is received from the cloud node. The charging event is merged with a charging event of network connectivity according to the first network connectivity class. A merged charging event, according to the requested common network connectivity and cloud service class, is achieved.

A method and apparatus for remotely configuring Ethernet protocol functionality in a terminal device connected to a cellular communications network. One aspect provides a network node comprising a communications interface for communicating with the cellular communications network, a radio interface for communicating with a terminal device, and one or more processors. The network node is configured to receive, from the cellular communications network, a request to send an Ethernet configuration message to a terminal device connected to the cellular communications network, transmit the Ethernet configuration message to the terminal device and receive a response message from the terminal device.

A method, performed by a first node is described, the method being for handling roaming information. The first node operates in a first communications network. The first node determines a set of network resources predicted to be required by a group of subscribers while roaming in a second communications network. The first node then initiates providing an indication of the determined set of resources to a second node in the second communications network. The second node receives the indication and determines whether or not an allocation of the set of resources meets a criterion. The second node then initiates performing an operation based on the determination. An access node of the cellular network determines a correlation of an identifier of a user equipment with an entry of a Pending Interest Table maintained by an Information Centric Networking node. The Pending Interest Table comprises an entry for each data object having a pending Information Centric Networking request at the Information Centric Networking node. Based on the correlation, the access node controls a connection of the user equipment with the cellular network. This may involve deciding whether to release the user equipment to idle mode or paging of the user equipment.

A method is disclosed for handling cloud computing resources in a wireless communication network () comprising a first and a second access subnetwork () providing wireless access to wireless communication devices () residing in a first and a second geographic area, respectively, and a first and a second cloud computing resource () connected to the first and the second access subnetwork (), respectively. An access node () of the cellular network determines a correlation of an identifier of a user equipment () with an entry of a Pending Interest Table maintained by an Information Centric Networking node (). The Pending Interest Table comprises an entry for each data object having a pending Information Centric Networking request () at the Information Centric Networking node (). Based on the correlation, the access node () controls a connection of the user equipment () with the cellular network. The invention relates to methods, a wireless communication device and a network node for enabling establishment of at least one Packet Data Network (PDN) connection between a wireless communication device and a communication network. In a first aspect of the invention, a method performed by a wireless communication device of enabling establishment of at least one Packet Data Network (PDN) connection&#x2014;with a communication network is provided. The method comprises submitting, to a node of the communication network, a request to establish the PDN connection, the request being configured to comprise an indication that the request pertains to establishing a PDN connection for transporting Information Centric Networking (ICN) data.

Distinguishing ICN from non-ICN traffic in a mobile network

A method performed by an Operation and Support System (OSS) node for handling communication between a wireless device and a communication network node in a communication network, which communication network comprises a first radio access node associated with a first gateway and a second radio access node associated with a second gateway. The OSS node determines to initiate a change of an Internet Protocol (IP) address for the wireless device. The OSS node further identifies a session of packets for the wireless device, which session is run over a protocol that supports session continuity even though source or destination IP addresses change in the packets. Furthermore, the OSS node triggers the change of the IP address associated with the first gateway for the wireless device, of packets of the session, to a changed IP address associated with the second gateway.

In an aspect of the invention, there is provided a method performed at a wireless communication device of distributing data content in an ICN network.
